I wrote about this awhile back. The Trump admin prepared in advance.👇 If the court does not side with the Trump administration, it already prepared two other tariff authorities to use: Since Trump's inauguration, the administration has strategically used IEEPA to impose tariffs on April 2, 2025, via Executive Order 14257, while quietly advancing Section 232 (started February 2025) and Section 301 (started mid-2025) processes as backups. If the Supreme Court strikes down IEEPA by July 2026, Section 232 tariffs could kick in by February 2026 and Section 301 by mid-2026, ensuring a seamless 0–5 month overlap. Both can take effect immediately and weather court challenges for 1–2 years, maintaining trade leverage.

Donald’s and Renner’s voting record when they served in the Florida State House were almost identical except for one main exception which I will let speak for itself: 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act (SB 7026 / related House version) • Paul Renner: Voted Yes (final House passage was 67–50). • Byron Donalds: Voted No. This post-Parkland school safety and gun-related package included: • Raising the minimum age to purchase long guns/firearms from 18 to 21. • A three-day waiting period for most gun purchases. • A ban on bump stocks. • Creation of Florida’s risk-protection-order (“red flag”) process.

I voted for Paul Renner. If Donalds wins the primary and you vote for him in the general, you are just as much a Democrat as those who vote for Jolly. Enough of the bulls**t. I said I might vote for Jolly to punish the corrupt GOP. So what? What's your plan?

Old laws should be revisited at times, it is called being prudent and recognize faults or needed changes, The Sunshine law has been changed many times from the 1960’s-1990’s. Then in the 1990s it went into the Constitution, then again in early 2000’s parameters to changes were made again. The vote in the House was 68-48 with the majority being Republicans. DeSantis was in Congress at the time , but after he became governor: During Ron DeSantis’ tenure as Florida governor (beginning January 2019), multiple issues arose involving the state’s Sunshine Law (open meetings) and Public Records Law. These included claimed exemptions, new statutory exemptions signed into law, delays or disputes over records production, and legal challenges. Open-government advocates and media outlets have frequently criticized the administration’s approach as reducing transparency; the administration has generally defended its actions on grounds of security, operational needs, volume of requests, or existing legal authority.

Yes, the electoral Math in many competitive districts does not favor the Democrats pushing it as an important issue. When Century Aluminum starts expanding production and opens a new smelter it is easy for the individual to ignore that the additional cost to his aluminum can of beer went up only half a penny.

The only Dem historical DNA re: tariffs is to be for them. ‘Industrial policy’ has been core to who they are for the political lifetimes of most policy people. That Clinton was able to get NAFTA done was an exception to the rule. They returned to their roots when they axed TPP under Obama. Trump just took their position and 10Xed it, so they don’t know what to do.

Well, that number is only about 3.4% of overall revenues. People are more concerned with blatant costs of fraud which GAO estimates that the federal government loses $233 billion to $521 billion annually. $200 billion of which is just improper payments. Hard for a Democrat in Minnesota to campaign on tariffs when the phrase “Learing Center” will be smashed in their face. Turns out the rank and file manufacturing labor unions and companies in the Midwest and in specific contested districts in the south, actually like many of the tariffs. It is easy to go back in the Time Machine and point out how much Democrats use to like tariffs before Trump and that Biden kept most of Trump’s first term tariffs in place. Also, it is easy to point out that Trump wanted to send tariff rebate/refund checks to citizens and Democrats hated it and Congress refused. So to answer your question: because it would only have small potential benefits in very limited competitive districts.

Grain finished is when fed corn and feedlot mix to fatten them up. Somewhere around 92-95% of all USA beef production is “grain finished”. Grain finished generally makes for quicker weight growth and a more “marbled” distribution of fat. “Grass finished” means what it says. less expensive and produces leaner beef. Lean scraps and trimmings are ground in to create “lean ground beef” like 85/15, 93/7. Example: this stuff and other packaging variations are sold at places like Sprouts and Whole Foods. It is from Uruguay. They use words like “organic”, and packaging to pretend it is somehow healthier and charge a premium to unknowing consumers.

Facts: less people died from covid in 2020 (before a vaccine), than in 2021. On another note, Covid was only the 3rd largest cause of death in 2020 and 2021. Skewed, out of context stats serve little purpose. We can fling out of context , cherry picked stats like: people over the age of 65 were way more likely to die from covid regardless of vaccine status. See how that works,

Do they not teach basic history in schools anymore? From 1789 onward, the federal government relied primarily on import duties/tariffs. One of the first major laws passed by the First Congress was the Tariff Act of 1789, which imposed duties on imports explicitly “for the support of government, for the discharge of the debts of the United States, and the encouragement and protection of manufactures.”

I'm sure there are some companies who will refund these to their customers, but many won't. And it's unlikely that, when some tariffs are eliminated, there will be a rush to reduce prices... considering just how much economic uncertainty persists. This can be solved if we don't have an executive levying taxes on Americans at whim. It's worth noting that the entire concept of arbitrary taxation is what led to the first American Revolution.
