Socialism first and foremost is production for use instead of profit. The workers control of the means of production and the collectivizations are meant to serve that goal. This is crucial, it's not a slight differnce

@Graham_117 Also, since on Mars it makes no sense having cars inside your pressurized city, and its always a short sleeve environment that won't rain and the gravity is 0.38g, walking and biking everywhere in the city is much easier, so expect very pedestrian friendly streets

Bezos and other O'Neillians often portray living on Mars as cramped and miserable compared to living in space habitats. But initially, large habitats will be easier to create on Mars, where you already have water, all the building materials, and even some radiation protection.

@Graham_117 ...or Greece. Streetlife is very real here and there is no reason not to be even better on Mars. Obviously not from day one but after you got good with building pre-fab pressurized apartments and vast greenhouses, building something like that is relatively easy and makes sense

@Graham_117 3/ if you go for 4-5 floors above the ground floor you can dome over the perimeter yard the buildings surround and grow some trees in there for the timber and create spaces with more park-like vibes. Good for comfort and sanity. And those matter for colonization.
