@PoneFluff For smaller cons it might be easier, like Anthrohio had staff running food orders to dealers last weekend, some have lunch breaks for vendors. But for larger cons hard to scale up because breaks interrupt attendee traffic and you will need a lot more volunteers to help vendors.

@ConHistory I've wondered if cons may benefit from a dedicated staff/volunteer position that's just a general helper for vendors, to run waters, take food orders and that way help make sure the vendors and artists aren't sat for 8 hours without even getting a chance for water

Honestly this is a serious issue, many artists sell alone without helpers for 8 hours straight, with no one to help bring food or watch their tables for lunch or bathroom breaks. On top of that many con centers don't allow artists to bring in drinks or food.

@sawdoffzombie @katzekeiEN It depends on con. Like for some con centers they even required all vendors put their luggage bag through metal detectors every day, ECCC was like that the one year I vended. AX did recently. Cons in the Ontario Convention Center also makes all vendors go through bag searches.

@katzekeiEN @ConHistory I haven't experienced one that bans food but how do they even check at the door? I could easily hide a sandwich in an empty trading card box, or my fill my water bottle to the max so it doesn't slosh and bury it in either badge buttons or amongst the table covers.

@heavymetalcorg1 Some cons have, probably is most vendors aren't as public when such situations happen as they fear getting blacklisted from a con for bringing attention to these issues. Often it is a convention center rule or security. x.com/i/status/20590…

While often cons allow vendors and artists to bring in food and drink, often there are causes that keep popping up at even established cons where food and water is confiscated. Even if a vendor wanted to buy food in the con center, they have to leave their table for a long line.
