@ConHistory With the size of something like Otafest, it feels like the vending departments could likely create a few dedicated staff positions for it to be honest. Bigger cons would need more manpower to do it, but they also have way more resources at their disposal

@PoneFluff For smaller cons it might be easier, like Anthrohio had staff running food orders to dealers last weekend, some have lunch breaks for vendors. But for larger cons hard to scale up because breaks interrupt attendee traffic and you will need a lot more volunteers to help vendors.

Honestly this is a serious issue, many artists sell alone without helpers for 8 hours straight, with no one to help bring food or watch their tables for lunch or bathroom breaks. On top of that many con centers don't allow artists to bring in drinks or food.

@sieminglyy Aye, having a staff member or vetted volunteer doing that role makes sense. Its awesome that some small cons do this kinda stuff!

@PoneFluff THISSS I did a smaller con once where the organizer was the sweetest guy who gave the vendors his number to request water/drinks or snacks. Another con I went to a volunteer was carrying granola bars and giving them out to vendors. May be safer than an attendee too :')

@ConHistory I've wondered if cons may benefit from a dedicated staff/volunteer position that's just a general helper for vendors, to run waters, take food orders and that way help make sure the vendors and artists aren't sat for 8 hours without even getting a chance for water

@anontkyo Hell, I might suggest it to some of my friends who are involved with cons. I guess its something that likely wasn't done due to difficulty finding a trusted volunteer to do it. But having a free floating assistant for vendors would solve so many issues

@PoneFluff One of my local cons has a role just for this, running to get water or food for artists and not handling money but watching booths while they go to the bathroom. More cons need to have dedicated relief volunteer positions, it’s so fking helpful seriously

@GamesNosh Its an odd claim that zoomers could never have touched tech or games that were a couple years older, especially since that's exactly when the older games got cheap. Hell, my first console was a wii, we got with a bunch of gamecube games and paraphenalia

I want to expand on this as there's a unique reason they do it; Zoomers often experience "historical nostalgia" (or to use the technical term 'anemoia') longing for eras they never even lived through, via media, TikTok clips, remakes, and parental stories. Research shows around 68% of zoomies feel nostalgic for pre-digital times, and that they're drawn to aesthetics that feel 'simpler' in contrast to today's social media overload and general brainrot culture. It's essentially Zoomers claiming cultural ownership of stuff they weren't even alive to experience when it was new as one giant coping mechanism. Remember that short period in the 2010s where Millennials were into 80's aesthetics despite none of us being from the 80's? yeah, it's essentially that but on steroids. The problem for them is, Millennials like me are the first native 'Internet generation', we outnumber them, and we're not going anywhere - and we are obviously going to point out how they're a bunch of frauds when they try to pull what is essentially an act of stolen valour.

@ipatrol6010 @ReforgedSwordo Honestly true, you could probably create a major canon with some special mentions for each region, which kinda sounds like a really interesting thing to look over

@PoneFluff @ReforgedSwordo I don't think it'd be invalid for each sub-community to create their own list, but my impression is they've converged a lot over time.

@ipatrol6010 @ReforgedSwordo Tbh, the idea of an anime literary canon does sound good but I feel like it would be nigh-impossible to create balancing Japanese tastes with english, spanish, etc.

@ReforgedSwordo It is understandable, though a lot of us want to cultivate a "literary canon" that everyone is at least passingly familiar with.

@fifteenai Fantastic, maybe some pre-created content/style tags might be a good idea? Pony, Anime, Furry, etc, make it easy for folks to filter their searches without needing to guess what tag people use?

@PoneFluff It pretty much works just like how Derpibooru's tag system works, you can add whatever tags you want when you create a listing

I had a couple drinks and I'm realizing this was probably not the best idea if I wanted to be productive for the rest of the night so maybe I will use this time to answer questions from people who want to know more about Artist Alley (yes that is the name of the platform, it's pretty sick)

It’s always kinda funny seeing theme park takes from people who aren’t hyper obsessed with the industry like we are. Like yeah man this insanely huge and expensive fan concept based on one franchise would definitely do numbers against the other seven major parks in Orlando

Still blows my mind what they did with Galaxy's edge. This was a no brainer but they wanted everyone to just forget about Episodes 1-6.
