A friend told me that now that they've had a child, her husband can't bear to watch movies in which bad things happen to kids. Same here. That was one of the most surprising things about having children. You're not just protective of your own children, but children in general.

I’m still in gym next morning. Not good for my health. But I love the relaxation, ability to switch off. Net positive for me as tightly wound hard worker

alcohol should be like birthday cake. nice occasionally. but totally pointless as a habit. i mean if you had birthday cake everyday or with every meal, ppl would laugh at you. but i also hate ppl who preach zero booze or quitting as a personality trait. i’m definitively not sober as an identity. if it’s a great cocktail at a great place, or a winery pouring something, of course i’ll have a glass. just like a birthday cake, my drinking is basically ceremonial. maybe 7-9 times a year, max. sometimes more if i'm having a great time with friends.
