@LoganGrafTax Same here. But the one I received last week still had an April date on it, which was strange. If you just got one back, did it have a fairly current date on it?

It took 9 months for the IRS to send an S Corp acceptance letter after faxing it with the S Corp return, in case you were wondering.

@adammarkowitzEA If I’m lucky enough to be on the mound for the last out of the championship game this Saturday, I am totally doing that!

I’ve now started dialysis, and thankfully my numbers are improving. The doctors are working on plans for me to continue treatment as an outpatient once I’m released, which will hopefully be in the next several days. When I leave the hospital, I’ll be working from home as I continue to recover and adjust to this new chapter. I want to sincerely thank each of you for your prayers, cards, gifts, texts, calls, and well wishes. Your kindness and encouragement have lifted me up more than words can say. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7 (KJV)

Hi friends, James has had a tough couple of days, and he and his fiancee are asking for your prayers. He was also incredibly grateful for the flowers and gifts (you all got him books, comfy socks, slippers, a soft blanket because you know the hospital bed sucks, and a bunch of games, puzzles, and books). Shout out to our boy @zachary_ashburn who made the delivery of the gift basket. ❤️

@LoganGrafTax Anytime I ask AI a tax question, it gives a very convincing answer. And when you challenge with, “what about x/y/z” or “you missed this/that” it comes back with “Great point! Let me recompute!”. The prompter still needs to know tax in order to get the right guidance.

I wasn't offended at this. It felt like AI was being used as an intermediary... an assistant. But it did make me question my future as a tax advisor. My advantage over AI right now is 10 years of experience to know a lot of the ins and outs of tax law. If taxpayers don't know what to ask, they might not be given the complete picture. For now...

Had a first today... Client brought ChatGPT to our tax consult… and used it to fact-check me in real time. Welcome to the future of advisory.

Giving a quick update: I am on week 2 inpatient in the hospital for kidney failure. I have nephrotic syndrome and FSGS. Taking treatments right now to hopefully restore some function, will reevaluate on Monday. Thanks for all the prayers, good thoughts and concern. At age 45 I’ve never been out of work more than 7 days since I was 16. This is all foreign to me. I am blessed with great friends who have made themselves my family. My fiancée brought my mom to Winston Salem to see me yesterday. I have a good medical team doing all they can and I have faith this too shall pass. Sorry I have been quiet, it’s been a lot to process and I’ve felt pretty rough. Again thank you all, as I’ve said before #TaxTwitter is the best of X.

As cool as it sounds, pass-through businesses don't need to be owned by a HoldCo for tax benefits I run across this misconception a few times a year

When do you think tax software venders will have MOST forms and instructions for 2025 income tax returns ready in 2026? Consider: IRS will have lost at LEAST 25% of their employees. The age of the IRS computer systems and software. The complexity of OBBB.
