Enrick Arnaud-Joufray (ESSEC Business School) published a Law and Economics article titled “The effects of mergers on product variety in markets with multihoming consumers” in #Concurrences 4-2024. Read more here: shorturl.at/YY4zR This article examines firms' incentives to offer differentiated products in traditional one-sided markets and two-sided media markets. In traditional markets, firms prioritize total demand, while in media markets, they also consider demand composition, such as whether consumers patronize multiple outlets. The study suggests that insufficient differentiation is more common in two-sided media markets and that mergers, while costly, may help address this issue. #concurrence #antitrustlaw #competitionlaw #droitdelaconcurrence #marketsharing #consumerwelfare #mergercontrol #barriertoentry #economicanalysis #lawandeconomics Concurrences Review provides expert analyses and diverse perspectives on competition law.
