A lot of VTubers are full-blown misandrists. They’ll happily take loads of money from male fans, then use that same platform to call all men trash, disgusting, or “all the same”—only to add the classic “I obviously don’t mean all men” at the end. Many regularly neglect male viewers and creators, put them under a microscope, and look for any reason to hate on fellow male VTubers
VTubing has become heavily associated with porn, OnlyFans, Fansly, and inherently predatory sexual content. Too much highly sexual material and the constant siphoning of men and boys—during a male mental health crisis—from Twitch and other 13+ platforms straight into porn has built a sort of expectation and culture of sexual content. Innocent creators feel the pressure, and some even get called horrible things just for being associated with the VTuber label—myself included many times. A lot of people now avoid VTubers entirely because the space feels overwhelmingly sexual, and genuinely good creators end up getting punished for what the culture has become. Many have quit VTubing altogether, or refuse to become VTubers in the first place because of how inherently sexual the space is
Plenty of VTubers act like immature drama queens fresh out of high school. They form cliques, then coordinate mean-girl hate campaigns to cancel the girls who fall out of favor
Many will abandon their morals, integrity, and authenticity just to stay in the good graces of people they privately disagree with, even when those creators abuse those they do privately agree with. They’ll ignore genuinely shitty (often misandrist) behavior if it helps them keep their spot in the circle
Others treat fellow VTubers like single-use stepping stones, especially men—using them to climb, then abandoning, neglecting, or throwing them under the bus the second they’re no longer useful for clout
A lot of people in this space are full of shit. They’ll stab you in the back the moment you’re not looking, then act like you’re the villain for being upset. They’ll gaslight you about objective reality because their ego can’t handle truth or criticism. They’ll block, blackball, slander, or defame you just because someone else told them to—not because they actually know or believe it. Sometimes they do it because they did something horrible and refuse to take accountability. Sometimes they gain so much money and clout from bad behavior that others being honest, genuine and good people becomes a threat to them, so they hurt and abuse you to silence you
So many sell out so quickly and so easily, hurting as many people as needed to chase a little clout. They have no real morals or integrity. Despite many often living relatively easy lives themselves, they’ll still step over, use, and abuse people who are actually struggling—all for their own self-serving, egomaniacal desires
Know who you support. Back the real ones—the ones who won’t sell you or their friends out. The ones who stand on their principles, show basic decency even to people they dislike, and know how to stand up for what’s right—not just for themselves, but for others too 🫳🎤
