@VicVijayakumar No, it's not, if you actually used an iron skillet for cooking you'd know that when you do that once, it takes a long time to get it non-stick and back into shape. You can argue with me, but if you do you're wrong and I'm right.

@cabinsmountain I hate to bring this up yet again, but when you've got 8.2 billion to feed, the pressure is on to maximise yields, regardless of eco-costs. If we downsize, genuine sustainability & a clean planet become so much easier to achieve. But then most cannot even conceive of that path.

I fucking hate the “minimum wage is for high schoolers” talking point. A. No it isn’t, that’s historically inaccurate. B. Telling a kid to work hard and earn money the “right” way, then turning around and saying he deserves less just because of his age is bullshit. Pay should be based on performance. Nothing else. If you’re against raising the minimum wage, that’s fine. Make a better argument that isn’t belittling kids trying to work hard and earn something for themselves.

@middle_class_us My 15yr old already has a job and is starting a votech class grades 10-12 for HVAC. When she grads from HS she'll roll right into a paid union apprenticeship. Life isn't hard if you're not afraid to work at it.

Entry level unemployment just hit 13%. Mortgage rates above 7%. This is a generation being locked out of every door at the same time. No job to start. No house to buy. No savings to build. And the generation before them telling them to work harder.

Your idea of a backyard chicken and mine are drastically different. I have 17 acres where they can free range. I have to worry more about predator control than feed. They have plenty of bugs and whatnot to eat in the woods. I get what you're saying about urban planting. I actually have a couple books on it that shows pretty creative ways to plant while living in apartments and whatnot.

Backyard chickens require insane amounts of inputs that you aren't going to be able to sustain in a food chain collapse. Want real backyard food security? Plant every square foot with POTATOES. PLANT POTATOES ON YOUR ROOF, IN YOUR LOCAL PARK, ON NEARBY STATE LAND, DOWN BY THE RAILROAD TRACKS, IN THE BAYOU, AT GRANDPA'S HOUSE, IN YOUR FRONT YARD, ON THE ESGES OF YOUR DRIVEWAY, ON THE HIGHWAY MEDIANS, AT YOUR KID'S SCHOOL, AT THE LOCAL POND, IN THE HOTEL PLANTERS DOWNTOWN, IN YOUR SUNROOM

Had an old retired Navy Corpsman buddy that moved into an HOA. Day 1 the HOA president walks up to introduce himself. Buddy grips his hand extra hard, looks him in the eye and says "nice to meet you, if you ever come here again I will consider you an intruder and you will be dealt with accordingly". He never has any problems with the HOA there lol.

How do these people deal with oppressive HOA? I live in an HOA community, and I have never had them do crazy stuff here. I also think everyone in my HOA takes care of their home and it is a beautiful community. This would drive me nuts.
