He's dragging two players to himself almost every time, which allows O'Reilly to run in. Although, he has to be better in front of goal.

Using the sole of the foot is a vital skill to develop, it attunes players to the movement of their opponent so they can stop & start, change direction & use disguise
In many schools football is banned in the playground meaning players lose min 5hrs a week play (add it up 8-16yr)

A lot of back and forth on here tonight on the formation, and I understand it’s easy to think adding an extra defender makes us more secure, but it’s flawed IMO:
- Laurent hasn’t really put a foot wrong imo, but he isn’t a CB and doesn’t offer much of an out ball.
- Esteve has looked lost every time he’s played in a 3.
- Ugochukwu isn’t a RM.
- Attackers are left isolated, and neither today is great at going man for man.
- We don’t take advantage of playing out from Dubravka as much as we should in a back 5.
You need certain profiles to make it work, which I think we lack.
Playing a back 4 doesn’t make us any worse defensively; it just allows players to be comfortable in their position and role.

Isolated drills without the game’s perception–action coupling isn’t real training,it’s just rehearsel. True training happens under competitive &dynamic conditions where behaviors emerge as i/t game. In fact,training may be the wrong word, given how it’s often perceived &executed!
