@tufacemay @CD5LosAngeles PROWAG and state building code are clear that dual ramps are required. Diagonal ramps are awful for wheelchair/stroller/luggage users, reduce yield compliance by drivers, and require larger corner radii— so faster, dangerous turns. This is an absurd suggestion @CD5LosAngeles

In committee this week, @CD5LosAngeles suggested doing a single curb ramp per corner instead of two to save $$. Other than being undesirable bc it shoots the user directly into traffic, it's not clear if this is legal in CA. youtube.com/live/y0EGU-Uqy…

The @metrolosangeles Sepulveda Transit Corridor will have a @UCLA campus station, but it matters where. @OfficialNWWNC voted to support the planned stop at Gateway Plaza, not a location at the edge that some admins suggested: #page=2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">cityclerk.lacity.org/onlinedocs/201… @UCLAadvocacy @UCLACommute

@orenbj Reviving my opinion that this is a no-brainer for jefferson, and expo from Harcourt to Gramercy. Ideal use case for LADOT’s recent embrace of Toronto barriers. I think we should meet with CD10 about it

@la_dorkout Fun fact- this was originally proposed for the 1984 Olympics by a committee led by current renowned UCLA biochemistry professor David Eisenberg. 40y later and we are still rushing to build the equivalent LADOT safety projects on Ohio Ave and Westwood Blvd before 2028 Olympics

In 1989 there was buzz behind creating a "Bicycle Freeway" in Westwood that even Mayor Bradley endorsed. It proposed 17-foot-high elevated "veloways" crossing Wilshire & the 405 into Brentwood & Sawtelle. Cost: $7 million. LADOT said it would infringe on street/fwy improvements.

Imagine one of these victims being a family member of yours, and realizing that we sacrificed their life because asking that people over 80 prove that they are still capable of driving safely would be "mean" or "unfair."

Newly released dashcam video shows the shocking moment a 92-year-old driver slammed into a Westwood grocery store, killing two employees and a customer and injuring others inside the bakery after striking a bicyclist about a block away, authorities said. Full Story: ktla.com/news/local-new…

Hey @CaltransDist7 better not to ignore elected officials & advocates all asking for the same thing: Build 3 blocks of protected 🚲 lanes connecting Ohio to Ohio during your repaving project You CAN do this but are refusing to. No more excuses! 🎥 @MobilityForWho @CarterRubin

@Boenau There were early mistakes, mostly underfunding, poor planning, unrealistic timelines, and long legal battles— not surprising as its the first HSR in the country. But CAHSR has been going well in recent years, building immense structures quickly despite never being fully funded

The California HSR boondoggle has done so much damage to mass transit advocacy. 🤦‍♂️ Rail advocates should be the loudest critics instead of defaulting to defense "because trains."

LA city council just blocked a reform by @nithyavraman that would fix a dumb, economically illiterate policy in LA that taxes multifamily apartments like mansions and has according to all evidence made LA’s housing crisis WORSE. Shameful, pathetic. Look at what is coming for us:

Yesterday, the worst elected official in LA met with the worst HOA in LA - watch if you are a masochist. (Hyde went through a litany of random BS why SB 79 can't work like "how will apt dumpsters get picked up in SFH areas" and "we can't charge fees on by-right development")

.@CaltransDist7 is spending millions to put in a bus lane on Santa Monica Bl, but is punting on a 3-block bike lane to connect the two Ohios to each other in West LA. Thank you @RickChavezZbur for your leadership — let’s get the Ohio-to-Ohio connector done THIS YEAR!

@mnolangray Objectively makes the neighborhood and waterfront better. And this density could finally be the push Muni needs to extend the F to the marina district/presidio

Yes, this project will change the character of the community—it will make it better, making room for 790 more families in one of the most desirable areas on Earth, without displacing even a single family.

Should San Francisco allow a 25 story apartment tower to be built on top of the Marina Safeway? Probably not. I'm as YIMBY as they come. But 25 stories in a neighborhood where everything is 3 to 4 stories seems excessive. 🧵

@_lej44 @hearinladotcom This an “unmarked crosswalk.” Any intersection in CA, whether it’s marked or unmarked, a 1-, 2-, 3- , or 4-way stop, or signalized, is an unmarked crosswalk. Rule is that drivers have to yield, and peds can’t step out in front of a car if it wouldn’t have time to stop safely

Malibu just approved a state funded PCH safety redo: new sidewalks, medians, 15 miles of 🚴‍♂️lanes, cameras. But Caltrans is only installing unprotected bike lanes, and the Coastal Commission insisted these lanes not be fully continuous due to “public access issues”. Reckless.

PCH Safety Update ‼️ Nearly 9 months after 4 students were killed by a driver, Caltrans began hosting community mtgs outlining changes that can be made. Amazingly, they are finally considering various protected bike lanes + medians. Anyone can vote now: engage.dot.ca.gov/l2172
