@tufacemay @CD5LosAngeles PROWAG and state building code are clear that dual ramps are required. Diagonal ramps are awful for wheelchair/stroller/luggage users, reduce yield compliance by drivers, and require larger corner radii— so faster, dangerous turns. This is an absurd suggestion @CD5LosAngeles

In committee this week, @CD5LosAngeles suggested doing a single curb ramp per corner instead of two to save $$. Other than being undesirable bc it shoots the user directly into traffic, it's not clear if this is legal in CA. youtube.com/live/y0EGU-Uqy…

@la_dorkout Fun fact- this was originally proposed for the 1984 Olympics by a committee led by current renowned UCLA biochemistry professor David Eisenberg. 40y later and we are still rushing to build the equivalent LADOT safety projects on Ohio Ave and Westwood Blvd before 2028 Olympics

In 1989 there was buzz behind creating a "Bicycle Freeway" in Westwood that even Mayor Bradley endorsed. It proposed 17-foot-high elevated "veloways" crossing Wilshire & the 405 into Brentwood & Sawtelle. Cost: $7 million. LADOT said it would infringe on street/fwy improvements.

New Yorkers deserve to be safe no matter how they commute — whether they bike, walk, or drive. That's why my Administration is committing to restarting construction of parking-protected bike lanes on McGuinness Boulevard and completing its redesign.

@_lej44 @hearinladotcom This an “unmarked crosswalk.” Any intersection in CA, whether it’s marked or unmarked, a 1-, 2-, 3- , or 4-way stop, or signalized, is an unmarked crosswalk. Rule is that drivers have to yield, and peds can’t step out in front of a car if it wouldn’t have time to stop safely

Malibu just approved a state funded PCH safety redo: new sidewalks, medians, 15 miles of 🚴‍♂️lanes, cameras. But Caltrans is only installing unprotected bike lanes, and the Coastal Commission insisted these lanes not be fully continuous due to “public access issues”. Reckless.

PCH Safety Update ‼️ Nearly 9 months after 4 students were killed by a driver, Caltrans began hosting community mtgs outlining changes that can be made. Amazingly, they are finally considering various protected bike lanes + medians. Anyone can vote now: engage.dot.ca.gov/l2172
