On top of that, why remove the anti-competitive nature of playing MLS and ECNL? They need to merge and stop selling the idea that one is better than the other. The only way to see who is the best is to have a national tournament run by US Soccer. Those top four teams should have the lions share of Youth National team players as well. Stop this mishmash of MLS quota from every team with political connections.
English

@ManagerTactical Can you name an instance when something had that major of an impact in youth development in less than 20 years?
MLS have only had academies since 2007 with the exception of 1 or 2.
Some of them are doing incredible things.
English

The USMNT 🇺🇸 is the ultimate evidence of MLS’s failed youth development.
The fact that we have to recruit better players developed abroad and we are still bad… just shows you how much MLS has failed to develop good American players.
Tambi#NYCFC@tambi021
sorry I was told MLS is the reason why USMNT is bad
English

All they have done is increase the middle. They haven’t developed top-line players at all.
The sad fact is our top players are normally kids with dads that played. These players have a higher IQ. Like Cavan, his dad (and grandfather) played at a professional level. The Union didn’t develop him per se. They probably tried to hinder him, and the dad with his strong personality won out.
MLS academies think they can take an athlete and make him a player. They can’t. I watch plenty of Academy games, and the poor first touches and lack of awareness is unreal. Most kids at that level can reasonably cover ground to make up for mistakes though. But against players from strong soccer cultures, they get exposed.

Today is Maundy Thursday, Holy Thursday, the night of sorrows.
But what makes this such an important day? What happened in that upper room, and in the garden beyond?
It begins with bread & wine & ends with blood-sweat, betrayal, and the binding of the Son of Man
This is the story:
As the sun sets on Jerusalem, the streets are filled with the fragrance of lamb and bitter herbs. It is the night of the Passover, and Jesus gathers with His twelve Apostles in an upper room prepared for the sacred meal.
He knows what this night will bring.
“Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them unto the end.” - John 13,1
During the meal, He takes bread, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to them, saying:
“Take, eat; this is My Body.” Then He takes a cup of wine and says, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is My Blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” - Matthew 26,26–28
Here, Our Lord institutes the Most Holy Eucharist, giving Himself truly under the appearance of bread and wine.
At the same time, He institutes the sacred priesthood, commanding the Apostles to “do this in memory of Me.”
Then, He adds: "I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
Then, astonishingly, the Master washes the feet of His disciples, even of Judas, teaching them what divine love looks like: humility in service, even to one's betrayer.
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them."
After the meal, they sing a hymn and walk out into the cool night air, crossing the Kidron Valley to the Garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives.
Jesus asks Peter, James, and John to stay with Him while He prays. Then, falling to the ground, He is overcome with sorrow and dread.
On that fateful night in Gethsemane, the weight of the world’s sin fell upon His sacred shoulders.
In the moonlit darkness of the olive grove, He knelt in prayer, His soul crushed beneath the burden of what was to come.
He, the sinless Lamb, saw the full horror of humanity’s wickedness, past, present, and future. He beheld every betrayal, every lie, every act of cruelty, and He took it all upon Himself.
He prays in anguish. His sweat becomes like drops of blood, falling to the ground.
An angel from Heaven comes to comfort our Redeemer in this great agony.
Then, He prays to the Father:
“Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not My will, but Thine be done.” - Luke 22,42
Here, in silent obedience, the Lamb of God accepts the chalice of suffering, the full weight of humanity’s sin.
Peter, James, and John had fell asleep in the Garden of Gethsemane while Jesus was praying.
Jesus comes up to them and says: "Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?" - Matthew 26,40
Then, the silence of the garden was shattered. A mob, led by Judas, approached with torches and weapons.
“Rabbi!”, the traitor exclaims. Then he kisses Him.
- Mark 14,45
The traitor’s kiss burned like fire upon His cheek.
This is the signal.
The guards seize Jesus.
Peter, in a flash of misguided zeal, draws a sword and cuts off a servant’s ear. But Jesus rebukes him:
“Put your sword into its sheath. Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given Me?” - John 18,11
He heals the man’s ear, even in His arrest, Jesus gives mercy and performs a miracle.
Then, forsaken by His friends, the Good Shepherd is led away by the wolves of the Sanhedrin.
Holy Thursday, Maundy Thursday, is the threshold of the Triduum, the Three Days that changed history forever.
It is a night of contradiction:
>The greatest act of love (the Eucharist) is given while the greatest betrayal (the kiss of Judas) unfolds.
>It is a night of intimacy: Christ washes the feet of His Apostles, but is left alone to suffer in the garden.
>It is the night of the institution of the Eucharist, the priesthood, and the new commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you.”
The Church weeps tonight, not just for what was done to Jesus, but for what we still do. Every time we receive Communion without love, every time we sleep while He asks us to watch, every time we flee in fear or compromise with sin, we echo this night.
Yet Jesus knew all this. And still He gave us His Body. Still He washed our feet. Still He knelt and prayed. Still He said yes to the Cross.
Tonight, let us stay close to Him.
>Adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament, as He awaits His Passion.
>Kneel with Him in Gethsemane, as He wrestles with our sins.
>Mourn with the Church, stripped of her joy, waiting in silence.
For His Love was betrayed tonight, but His Love did not retreat. His Love stood firm. And His Love will conquer.
“Could you not watch one hour with Me?”, the Lord asked - Matthew 26,40 - Tonight, let us answer Him:
"Yes, Lord. I will keep watch."

@trad_west_ Thank you! Not sure you get enough attention but very good write up. Keep them coming. Learned some lessons here.

Let’s goooooo!!!!! Quick question for you, Rob. Have you seen One Piece on Netflix? They did a super nice job staying pretty true to the comic. The show is excellent and my kid loves it (he really likes anime). Do you think the MCU could learn from this and stay more true to the comic creators than changing stories to suit their producers' needs?

Dallas Cup 2011s- second year in a row that FC Dallas asks for the quarterfinals to be changed. It went from the logical to moving the FCD Red team out of the bracket to make it easier on them. Too bad they had to face the strong Mexican side. They did it last year with FCD Academy as well.
Last year finalist Illinois Magic got knocked out. Impressive from Texans ECNL team. The little team with fight, that nearly got screwed over in qualifying during the Bobby Rhine Tournament by FCD.
Solar Academy got knocked out. That team was too good, they need a new coach to freshen that talented group up.
DKSC getting out, will be interesting to see them progress. Some talent there. Their #6 is very good.
Hornets starting midfield is super legit. #10 is an absolute baller. Best in Dallas area by a wide margin. So composed on ball and controls the game. They look pretty strong.
Angelos has some pretty impressive pieces. #9 and #7 should be with bigger Mex academies (unless they are guest players?)
FCD teams White/Red- typical FCD teams, they move the ball well. Some athletes, mostly system players, they will grind. Interestingly to see their results. Red had an Academy kid move down recently.

5 of 6 continents are seeing declining levels of burn, but alarmists incessantly highlight the only continent that is seeing increasing burns — leaving you badly informed
Using NASA Modis data for six continents (notice Africa is by far the biggest), using same continent definition as essd.copernicus.org/articles/17/53…

@Papagay01286916 @ProspectsUsmnt He is lucky. We know two families that moved for work and got blocked. One is a banker and the other Marketing.
English

@ConservDwall11 @ProspectsUsmnt You are correct. The dad has a commercial aviation-related business with a lot of clients in Europe. They moved for business purposes....not soccer.

We can also say that the Youth Yanks Abroad crop for 2011 is off to a good start too.
Papo Gordon and Aguirre give this group two really top level prospects. Neville Knowles is another who I think has very good potential.
Jayden Gonzalez is another playing in Mexico who gets good reviews, and now he’s playing up a full age group with Mexico’s YNT’s.
Rikelme De Almeida in Brazil has some potential. Tyler Boumakany in France gets strong reviews.
Two players in England I’m curious to see play at some point: Keyvan Figueroa (Burnley) and Kylan Hague (Sunderland). Figueroa is the brother of Keyrol. He’s a CB. Has gotten some early good reviews and there’s a clear pro pedigree in his family (father and brother both pros). Hague’s father was a pro, so another with a pro pedigree in his family, and I’ve heard he was highly rated at Phoenix Rising before leaving to England.
Probably a little early to know much about the crop in Germany yet (we usually start learning more their U-16 year), but there are some good building blocks with the 2011’s playing abroad already.
USMNTProspects@ProspectsUsmnt
The Mexican-American crop for 2011 is looking like one of the better ones in recent times. Aguirre, Benji Flowers, Mason Washington, and ZLR are all top 10 prospects in the American 2011 age group. Some other good players too (AJ Gonzalez, David Jaimes, Ethan O’Neil, etc).
