A woman hiking in Canada nearly became a grizzly’s next meal and the video circulating right now is genuinely one of the most intense wildlife encounters you will ever watch - her dog is with her, a massive grizzly is right there, and somehow she kept her head together long enough for both of them to walk away breathing.
That is not a small thing. Most people talk tough until nature is standing ten feet in front of them and every instinct in your body is screaming to run, and running is exactly the worst thing you can do.
Grizzlies are built to chase, they top out over 700 pounds and can cover ground faster than any human alive. The people who survive these moments are the ones who override pure fear with pure discipline and this woman did exactly that.
If you hike, camp, or spend any real time in the wilderness - bear spray is not optional, it is the difference between a story you tell and one somebody else tells about you.
Could you have kept your cool?

Dear @UCSF, Why haven’t you issued a statement regarding an employee of yours threatening to k*ll me? In June 2024, @ucdavis issued a statement condemning my free speech after a video went viral of me speaking out on the trans gender industry and drag queens (sex clowns) in a hotel lobby in Hawaii. It was weird the university's statement did not mention my comments were made while I was on vacation out-of-state and did not involve university faculty, staff or students. Nor did @ucdavis issue an apology statement when a Pro-Palestine faculty member told me to "Put a gun in your mouth you piece of sh*t" while on the UC Davis campus. What is the difference? Look, if something catastrophic happens in your life and you need some help to get by for a bit, I'm more than happy to send some of my tax dollars your way, and you shouldn't feel bad or guilty about it.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is FDA Pregnancy Category B for all trimesters, (this might be changed or the categories phased out soon) which means animal studies have not shown risk to the fetus, but human studies are limited. Why? No pregnant women want to sign up for such studies and take a risk, therefore, most safety evidence for Tylenol use in pregnancy is anecdotal. If Tylenol was 100% safe in pregnancy, it would be assigned Pregnancy Category A, meaning human studies show no risk. It isn't, therefore, the best course of action in pregnancy is to always take the lowest effective dose, for the least amount of time possible, after a risk vs benefit assessment with your doctor.
