As a response, I have edited out the Chinese flag emoji on social media platforms where you can edit posts (#Mastodon) and replaced the simplifying "CN" in the website menu with "官话" for #Mandarin. Sorry for the lack of precision!

There has been legitimate critique about using the Chinese flag emoji when Mandarin is spoken in other countries as well, and calling it a "Chinese" version when there might be a Mandarin and a Cantonese one in the future.
