The formal launch of the 2026 Skibbereen Historical Journal will take place in Abbeystrewery Hall, Skibbereen (P81 XT53) on Friday 10 July at 7:30 pm. It will be launched by Finola Finlay of the Roaringwater Journal blog. All are welcome and copies will be on sale on the night.

An unusual item for Coolim Books. Handbuch der Waffenkunde by W. Boeheim (text in German). This copy once belonged to Lt. Col. (later Brigadier) P. Young. He commissioned R.P. North to colour it's illustrations and translate their captions. See tinyurl.com/HandbookWeapon…

After 9 hours today, 11 of my posts have only 0-3 likes.
The algorithm that stops posts with a link going through has got to be the reason.
The only one getting a positive response is James Joyce established the 1st regular cinema in Ireland.

West Cork has numerous archaeological sites with winter solstice alignments. Probably the best known of these is the Drombeg Stone Circle, near Glandore, where on the shortest day the sun sets in a dip between two hills in alignment with the circle’s axial and portal stones.
