In Oct 2023.I cried for shame at the reaction in the UK to the massacre in Israel. I couldn't understand how within hours people were demonstrating support in London for the perpetrators,
I remembered my father returning in 1945 after three years abroad in the RAF, his brother having already perished in 1942. They and their friends served and died to save the world from the horrors of the 3rd Reich and now in 2023 people in England were practically celebrating this horrendous atrocity against those so persecuted before.
My bewilderment continued for months as I witnessed public opinion throughout the world manipulating the easily lead and those that wanted to be lead, in a PR feast of antisemitism, condemning the victim and praising the aggressor.
Apart from my now growing interest in the conflict's rights and wrongs my old fashioned English sense of fair play was also destroyed by what I saw.
As an old man in the safety of rural England there was nothing I could do other than give support here on X and further the posts of more vigorous supporters of Israel.
Now nearly two years later our own Prime Minister,who is not sure if he is a Christian or not, has without consulting parliament or the nation recognised the non existent State of Palestine.
Our country is not the country my father, his brother and their friends fought for, they would be so ashamed, as I am, of England today.
