Mara can’t go out and guard folks when needed the way that Wemby can though. His ability to block shots is also not on the same level as Wemby. Wemby also is insane on the offensive end because he dribbles like a guard and can shoot anywhere on the floor too. And yes idk why they have Chet in the corner and are throwing Caruso, Dort and J-Dub at him instead. But also they got tons of strips and deflections because Wemby keeps the ball too low sometimes. Either way they need to put Chet on him moving forward it was far too easy for him tonight. But the main point is that Hartenstein is a solid Center but can’t see real minutes due to him not being able to hang with Wemby/the guards SAS runs out there. Mara is closer to Edey but at least Edey has tried to learn how to shoot from deep too. So if Mara can’t shoot jumpers and won’t shoot 3PA while is also terrible from the FT line, then his ceiling is very very low in today’s NBA. I personally believe using a Top 10 pick in 2026 on a Center who’s main + is just being a rim protector but also is only going to score in the paint/off the glass, is a major misuse of premium assets. If you have the luxury to take a player like that then do it, but Clingan, Edey, Mara type of guys are not the difference makers in today’s game they way they would be back in the day.

@CooperGoede I guess this is my point, Mara can move, his numbers were solid. I also have no clue what OKC is doing defensively on Wemby. Also Wemby isn’t guarding multiple spots either, he is just anchoring the nail

Idk man, I am watching the WCF right now with a guy who is 7’4 on one side and OKC not able to play their starting center even a full 12 mins because he can’t keep up with the speed and athleticism. If you’re a big and can’t move, can’t shoot and aren’t going to be back to guard multiple spots, then you can’t really see impactful minutes in the playoffs these days.

@CooperGoede I think you are off on Mara by a mile Fair point on Ament but we cannot afford to draft anything other than the player the franchise believes will be the best moving forward.

Giannis staying means you can’t swing for “upside” at that pick so I am out on Ament for that reason. Also the fact that I just think there are way better players in this class regardless even if we are rebuilding. Where I am not wanting to waste a Top 10 pick now guy who just has upside and you hope pans out lol. I will be SHOCKED if Mara ever even sniffs an All Star bid lol and even if he does, he screams the most “regular season player who gets played off the floor in playoffs” guy in this class. Hard pass on that.

@CooperGoede Ament has the 3rd most upside in the class and Mara is easily going to be an All-Star Center. I get wanting other players but when reason does not exist whats the point?

They will try to galaxy brain us to oblivion trying to justify how this makes any sense at all but it just doesn't, and I know they know it

@surelando Correct a really solid player in the regular season when you are not game planning the entire game like you do in the playoffs. #Bucks have a ton of needs and going Mara does not fill any of them lol.

@surelando Nah that’s just the modern NBA. You gotta have an athletic big man who can guard multiple guys and also be able to shoot if you want to be effective when it actually matters. I don’t need Edey 2.0 on my team. Mara would be a terrible pick for us and what we need.

@surelando #Bucks don’t need a Center who will be played off the floor come the playoffs because he can’t shoot. Lopez at least turned into Splash Mountain later in his career on top of being that rim protector.
