I strongly suspect that Beast of Reincarnation will land better with gamers than it does critically. People with good faith will see they tried to do, and I think like me, will be excited for how they could build upon it with BOR2 (if there is one).

GameFreak did it AGAIN >horrible optimisation >terrible story pacing >riddled with glitches and bugs >smudgy blurry Unreal Engine 5 graphics >OST is literally a single lofi track on loop >3 enemy types IN THE ENTIRE GAME >all weapons are the same besides a tiny passive effect that is triggered by parrying >equipment doesnt change your looks at all >there is only ONE execution animation in the entire game >jumping and looting SHARES THE SAME BUTTON >no actual tutorial for half the mechanics >99% of exploration rewards you with useless resources so you can make food that grants you like 0.0001% stat increases >the only customization is adjusting your companion's abilities and the types of arrows on your bows >crouching locks you out of any action for a second and is too easy to trigger >everything comes with an animation lock so the combat is janky The only positive i can think of here is that the gameplay and art direction is not horrible although it tries to go for a Nier automata/ Stellar Blade world but does it worse and the gameplay is Stellar Blade with even more stiff controls somehow. The music is okay even if its beasically the same track repeating itself What a fucking mess, Beast of Reincarnation might be my worst game of the year despite the fact i had high hopes for it. I guess the lack of talent carried over to outside of pokemon

Game Freak’s new game Beast of Reincarnation releases tomorrow on PS5, Xbox and PC. From early impressions the game is solid, however it has very ugly performance issues, even on PS5 Pro, with framedrops being common while playing.

@JakeBaldino Hope this proves Game Freak is a just a bad development studio. All the time and/or money in the world won't help them - what they need is actual talent.

I wanted to love this one. It starts strong and I like the combat ideas and the cool dog. Unfortunately it runs out of steam and starts feeling pretty bland a few hours in with dull environments, repetitive enemies, and a lack of exploration enticement. Tech issues also hold it back. This is one of those "wait for sale" type games if you're still interested. I think it'll still find some audience, but I wish it were better. Gameranx Before You Buy video is going up tmrw.
