The American Football Coaches Association's Board of Trustees are expected to release its decision to support a 24-team playoff and the elimination of league title games, per @RossDellenger.
The most-discussed 24-team CFP model includes an at-large bracket determined by CFP rankings, an automatic berth for the Group of Six leagues and first-round campus games for seeds 9-24.

I’ll be honest and say that I would have preferred to see MSU go after a Bidunga, Thiam, Cyril, Sylla, etc type but Bonke is a solid addition. Will be nice to have a 7 footer on the team. Had interest from some other really good programs (Kansas, Gonzaga, Arkansas, etc). I think playing with good guards like Fears and Medlock will make him better offensively. He can stretch the floor a bit although we will see if he does that at MSU.
Concerns I would have would be on the defensive end. I think offensively he will fit fine and be solid there.
Roster I’m guessing is now set barring something crazy and Cooper or Kohler getting an additional year. I could also see them potentially adding a low profile guard as another ball handler with Ugochukwu leaving but I wouldn’t bet on that. I think they have enough guard depth as is. Jervis can be your emergency PG if necessary.

You arguably are a piece away from having a roster that can compete for a title. You can’t roll into the season with (1) a guy who couldn’t get on the floor last year, (2) a major project big, and Ward. And I love Ward but he’s 6’8”. Have to have higher standards here. It’s MSU.

Unpopular take: I think there is a solid chance that MSU is just fine at the center position with Jesse McCulloch, Ethan Taylor, and Cam Ward playing a little small-ball center from time to time. Adding a center from the portal is an insurance policy.
