Trump is literally proving that the world needs renewable energy such as solar, wind and thermal.

Have you noticed that: - the scientists in the global warming debate present more data and the latest data, while - the fossil fuel industry shills cherry pick their data, use old data, or use freehand sketches not backed by data at all?

Roger must have skipped climate class like Greta, because he would have learned that climate change is affected by many solar related cycles -- some are warming and some are cooling. Furthermore, the AMO and PDO ocean cycles (not seen on this image) produce additional forcings.

Re climate change, many here repeat all the old climate myths… Warming caused by urban heat island effect. Global confused with Greenland temperatures. Or tell me (paleoclimate expert) that climate always changed. Hey, we know it all, you find all here: skepticalscience.com

The Sun is not the cause of the observed warming of the last half-century, because: A SLOWLY COOLING SUN COULD NOT HAVE QUICKLY WARMED THE EARTH. (Please note the green line, which is the separated linear component from the 5 DoF line-plus-sine fit.)

@CoppockRog62072 Graph is a bit on the short side, another 50 years of earlier data would be nice. earths outgoing energy probably follows the green line closer than the red one?

@CoppockRog62072 It explains some of the recorded temperature anomalies. Ocean temperatures are generally modified to reflect regional expectations driven by climate models.

Which of the following best describes your training in mathematics? If you are in an area that uses math (e.g. Engineering, Comp. Sci., Climate, Physics, Biology, etc.), then make your best estimate.

@CoppockRog62072 And it can't be the sun because we have to keep a narrative going? Never mind that the atmosphere doesn't heat the ocean. That's the sun.

Imagine Calvin Coolidge forcing Henry Ford to shut down production of the Model T and invest in horses and buggies instead. Because this is essentially Trump’s energy policy.

@CoppockRog62072 I would not wager $10, much less a trillion dollars, the geopolitical fate of places like Germany and third world nations, on estimates of temperatures of "world ocean surface temperatures" measured to 0.1⁰C in 1999, much less 1950 or 1850! But you do you.

Roger must be a very young person, or forgot that "the oceans" had virtually NO temperature history from the past - as compared to the also limited land-based sensors. Ergo, the UHI has a very real warming effect, in addition to our continued thawing out from the Little Ice Age.

Urban Heat Islands do not explain the observed Global Warming. 71% of the Earth's surface is covered by water. There are no cities there. There are no Urban Heat Islands there. That 71% of our planet's surface is exponentially warming.

@larkam51 "Ocean temperatures are rising slower than land temperatures," because land surfaces are solid, and ocean surfaces are liquid. Only the very near surface of the land needs to be heated, unlike the ocean which can mix warm waters with colder depths.
