That Mavs team beat the 57 win Thunder and 56 win Twolves. Everyone was saying they’d lose to the Mavs. They went on to gentleman sweep them. They were 8-2 against Dmitch, Hali, and Doncic. They were the best offense in NBA history. Won 64 games. They won 7 games more than anyone else. Give me a break

I think Ime is a good coach don’t get me wrong at all. I think he gets a ton out of his players and it’s why they love him, but when the X and Os don’t follow the disdain starts to kick in. If he had Joe or Brads X and O ability with his personality of being a player coach he’d arguably be the best coach in hoops

I definitely see your points here, I am probably romanticizing the 21-22 Celts in fairness. I also think Joe is a really good coach so not any slight to him either. Not giving him credit for Ime’s defensive success though, obviously a bit silly considering it regressed a bit the year he took the job over. Rockets are a dumpster fire though, agree there. Poor roster construction is a factor in it for sure but he isnt blameless

Ime really blew one of the best coaching opportunities ever because he was too horny. Fortunately for us Cs fans his sexual deviance led us to a coach that is just truly so much better.

@toomuch7uice I just don’t see anyone unless it’s a non contender signing him for 20 mill or more. He’s just to unreliable and hasn’t had a full season/playoff run healthy in his career

Ime had Joe and Sam on his coaching staff that even Brogdon claimed Joe was the mastermind behind the defense in Ime first year. Joe took over the team literally a single month before the season started. He was one game away from the NBA title that season, he then went on to win a title with them. KP was a basic non factor in the playoffs and had one solid Finals game Rockets look completely unmotivated with Ime and even saw it last night. Ime is one of the worst late game coaches in the NBA. Has no ability to alter game plan and adjust. As you saw in the finals vs Warriors Coaches who are X and O heavy are always going to be better than “player coaches”

I don’t think you’re factoring in the context fully here: - Started 18-21 before going 33-10 to finish Ime season, that team bought in hard you remember - Opinion but felt the group mildly regressed year 1 with Joe and got a worse result as well - Year 2 with Joe was KP/Jrue in and Marcus/Rob out. Just a much stronger lineup than Ime had particularly with Rob’s durability issues. No slight to Joe either but this was just a better group he had - Last years team with Joe definitely under-achieved, JT injury aside that series was lost - Ime had that young Rockets team with no true lead star at 52 wins last year and the 2 seed. Slight regression this year and added KD is a bad look, FVV injury killed them IMO and management not acquiring a true guard for this year was just incompetent. Amen Thompson playing PG on a 41 win team is a solid coaching job if you ask me
