@David_Da_Boss Honey, Jean Grey has always done questionable things. The X-Men aren't saints, it's why the other heroes in Marvel don't like 'em much.

Jean Grey took control of MJ to kiss Spider-Man in Brand New Day, and we’re supposed to believe she NOT the villain? This is how the MCU introduces Jean Grey, and she’s irredeemable right from the start! Not only does she control MJ, she also directs a man in front of a car! She can’t ever join the X-Men; she crossed the moral event horizon and there’s no coming back. Not that anyone would want more of her unwatchable character anyway. A blessing in disguise maybe! #spidermanbrandnewday

the hate for jean in bnd feels so forced lol. the x-men have done way worse things than what she does in the movie, but everyone is so quick to crucify teen jean over less. and just out of nowhere, switch on sadie and pick on her performance too

@MustacheCash101 No confirmed kills, also she didn't kill anyone while controlling Punisher, when he shot the guards, it was non-lethal shots, you saw them writhing on the floor.

@CorinthJax Did you not see her make two guards shoot themselves? Make an old man get hit by a car? Make Punisher kill more people?

Im fine with making Jean a villain at first, but don't make her redemption arc so easy after she’s killed and traumatized a bunch of people. I honestly would’ve even been okay with them going the Last Stand route and giving her a whole split-personality thing. At least then there'd be something separating Jean from the person committing all those atrocities, rather than this being just the acts of an angry teenager. Because this just justifies mutant hatred in the MCU rather than it coming from irrational fear.

Don’t know how I’m supposed to sympathize with Jean Grey in the MCU when she’s out there killing random people for no good reason and suffers no real consequences for it. And that’s not even the only evil thing she does. What an odd way to introduce this pivotal X-Men character.

@JEST0Z Their problem was quality control. Wandavision, Agatha, Loki, Wonder Man and X-Men 97 are peak but a lot of the other projects were just okay to straight up awful. It's a shame Wonder Man's paying the price.

Wonder Man Season 2 being cancelled is Marvel’s larger plan to stop producing shows for Disney+ that devalues the Marvel brand to the general audience. Marvel saw the writing on the wall with Star Wars and wants to prevent making the same mistake. That doesn’t mean they’re stopping shows entirely. Via @TheInSneider

@GL2814_3 The thing that most people forget about the X-Men is that they're messy af, and often do bad things. Cyclops is a screwed up character, and that's what makes him great. He was essentially a child soldier for Xavier that often identifies with Magneto's ideals and methods.

@CorinthJax @frostrayner LMAO, I was talking about Jean in her early years and your argument is a 2012 comic where jean goes to the future, sees everything that has happened until that point and builds a personality based on her desire to avoid those events? How embarrassed could you possibly feel rn. L

@NBossTime Yeah, they need to ideally cast him as someone who is the median age between Sadie and Samara. Someone young enough to not look like a creep with Jean, but someone old enough to feasibly be with Samara.

@David_Da_Boss He was distracted by the psychic shenanigans happening and only realised when it was too late. Had he just been talking to Jean normally, and not in his head, he would have dodged the bullet while saving Jean at the same time.

@DT2ComicsChat It makes sense to cast the X-Men young given that we're likely going to get a lot of X-Men films over the years, there's a shit ton of stories they can do in the MCU that were never touched upon, or done well, in the Fox films.

Yeah, but.... they made it clear that they don't really care about longterm fans or mainstream comic accuracy. The #MCU from the beginning has been based on Marvel Ultimates, Marvel NOW, and All-New All Different Marvel. Not really Silver or Bronze Age or Dark Age stuff; just nods and winks. And starting with the Captain Marvel movie, becoming as Woke™ as possible. They're definitely banking on the #XMen being the next big thing, but I asked the same question awhile back.....are young people as into the X-Men as the older fans were? I'm not convinced they are.
Marvel Mania@Sksj002

Marvel is about to repeat the same mistake. If the X-Men reboot is filled with young actors just to appeal to teenagers, it could backfire. The MCU's biggest audience isn't kids anymore. The fans who made Marvel a global phenomenon grew up with Iron Man, The Avengers, Infinity War, and Endgame. Most of them are now in their 20s and 30s. After Endgame, Marvel introduced a wave of young heroes like Ms. Marvel, Ironheart, America Chavez, Cassie Lang, and Kate Bishop. That strategy didn't create the same hype or box office momentum as the Infinity Saga. Then came Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps with older casts, more mature characters, and a tone that felt aimed at longtime MCU fans and the reception was much stronger. Marvel should stop trying to replace its core audience and start serving it. If they're chasing teenagers again with X-Men, they're risking another post-Endgame mistake.

@DannyVegito BND's plot needs Peter to basically only exist as Spiderman to work, BND is basically him learning that he can still have a life, in order to learn that lesson, he can't be out doing Peter things. The next film will likely see him build up more of a life outside of Spiderman.

@YellowFlashGuy We don't actually see Punisher kill the Damage Control people under Jean's control. He shoots them and threatens that the next shot will be lethal. Nobody gets killed in BND aside from Sara.

You can apply much of this to The Punisher. Who also kills people and faces no consequences. Bruce knocked a building down and was taken into custody. Punisher shoots and kills several Damage Control officers, even if he was under control. So was Hulk.

@Fenrirtheicewo1 She is objectively a good actress. She is also a bigger name than Jon Bernthal. For perspective, RDJ got paid around £15 million for Homecoming despite being in it for about ten minutes top while Tom Holland earned $500k that increased to $1.5m due to the film's success.

@VicariousPosts I mean, if the fanbase will support it no matter what, then they aren't a good fanbase. If a franchise I loved pulled this shit, I'd be out. All you are basically saying with this post is that the fanbase you're part of loves slop and has no taste.

"Shift Up is getting destroyed" The internet truly is where the vocal minority capitalizes on the negative review bias phenomenon. 1. Not downplaying anyone with a truly legitimate concern, I respect it 2. The 2% should be 0-1%, but that is too small for Slides to display
