I am humbled and honored to receive The Bee Foundation’s Brain Aneurysm Champion Award for my work on Ellie’s Law—a bipartisan effort to secure critical funding for expanded brain aneurysm research. Each year, over 500,000 Americans tragically lose their lives to undetected aneurysms. Among them, was 14-year-old Ellie Helton—the namesake of this bill. Ellie’s life was cut far too short by a ruptured aneurysm on July 16, 2014–just a day after she started high school. Ellie’s story, like the stories of so many others, fuels the urgency of this mission. We owe it to her, and every life lost, to be relentless in the fight for increased life-saving research, prevention, and treatment measures. Thank you to @thebeefoundatio for this true honor and your important work in our shared mission.
