Hitomi Miyashita, a NAR jockey with 1,382 victories, the most victories by a Japanese female jockey with 1,382 wins, retired from jockey duties after today's ride at NAR Nagoya. She passed the NAR trainer's exam and will open her own stable next year. She made her debut as a jockey in 1995 and retired in 2011 upon marriage. However, after her son told her he wanted to see her ride a horse, she re-obtained her jockey license in 2016. Looking at the photo, her children’s apparently attended her retirement ceremony. Her eldest son is said to be aiming to become a jockey himself, she said she was retiring from jockey to support the son’s future dream and because of injuries. Like young JRA jockey Kanta Taguchi, whose father is a trainer at the NAR, he may become a jockey at the JRA or attend the NAR racing school... Keep an eye out for future news.
