Traditional 2D systems fail to fully capture the TME. Our approach creates a densely packed environment that includes CAFs & immune cells, offering a possible alternative to recreating TME architectures, adaptable for different tumour types. #Biofabrication

Our setup is affordable & mobile, enabling wider accessibility to researchers. With our approach, we can add immune cells to the core-shell tumoroids, creating a multi-compartmental model to study therapy responses, like anti-CTLA4 immunotherapy.

Congratulations to John Ahrens, @SebUzel and @mascott85 for leading this work, which builds on earlier work from our lab that harnessed shear-induced alignment of anisotropic building blocks to pattern soft matter. Here, our team extends this work to organ building blocks❤️

3D bioprinting helped create this artificial heart tissue. The magnitude and direction of the contractile force depend on alignment and increase over time (see the video over 7 days). @JenniferALewis1 @Harvard @wyssinstitute @hseas Learn more: ow.ly/4a5N50JiuHv

Very glad to see this work coming out. Cell migration plays an important role in physiological and pathological processes, and it is exciting to see single cells were free to explore their different shapes in response to the various fibrillar topographies. @Biointerface_CU

Virtually every aspect of the COVID vaccine, from the lipid nanoparticles to the mRNA technology, was developed in academic labs using public funds. But in the public's mind the credit goes to companies like Moderna/Pfizer. This is a missed opportunity to celebrate basic research
