Today is the birthday of one of my people who died of a toxic drug overdose. The losses pile up, the family is grieving. There is no time limit on grief. It is bloody tragic our civilization would rather allow people to die rather than regulate. We are so sad. It was so preventable.

The BC Coroner just released the numbers: 1,826 people died in 2025 from the illegal toxic drug supply. Yes, that’s a 21% decrease from 2024. But let’s be clear that’s not a victory lap. That’s 1,826 funerals. The decrease isn’t magic. It’s multiple factors: • The tragic reality that thousands have already died over the past decade. •An illegal drug supply controlled by organized crime has a little less fentanyl, BUT I caution everyone that can change overnight! • Harm reduction interventions like naloxone reversing overdoses every single day. And here’s the part people don’t want to admit: Without harm reduction, the death toll would be exponentially higher. This isn’t a win. It’s a reminder that we’re still in a crisis! #bcpoli

The toxic drug crisis means anyone, whether they’re using for the first time or have used regularly, faces the risk of death from poisoned drugs. That’s why we’re investing $50 million to expand access to nasal naloxone – to save lives.

The end of the NDP’s decriminalization experiment signals the government is moving in a new direction on drug policy, but it must begin with transparency: release the data that the public was promised. nationalpost.com/news/b-c-ends-…

This from the frontlines. A big indication that the drugs in Vancouver are very toxic right now. Just a heads up everybody it's a war zone out here today, od's freaking everywhere! It's the type of day ya might feel better with a kit in hand when you're out and about.

There’s a solid chance Manak would win (if he could be convinced to throw his hat into the ring). He’s also one of very few people who understands the public safety situation in Victoria deeply enough to be able to effectively navigate the situation without prior experience in elected office. Certainly a file to watch! #yyj

There's a lot of talk about coercing or forcing people into addiction treatment ..... As a person who escaped addiction .... LET'S BREAK IT DOWN A LITTLE A person who has a family, a home, a career … a “good life” … but falls into addiction and burns that good life down, has what we call “recovery capital" and can be motivated into recovery treatment because they have everything to lose. After they complete treatment they'll have the support of their family, friends, and employer which will make it easier for them to move forward, because they've already experienced a successful life. In the other hand, someone struggling with poverty, homelessness, and trauma, who has never experienced a “good life” and has no loved ones looking out for them … it is much harder for them to be successful after treatment. They don’t know where to go or what they’re aiming for, and they don’t have the same opportunities to be set up for success. ➡️ How to get ID, a SIN, a BC Services card? ➡️ How to do a resume? ➡️ How to get a job? ➡️ How to pay off outstanding debt? ➡️ How to establish credit? There are so many things that are not easy to figure out. Getting off drugs is one thing, but setting people up for success after treatment FAILS MISERABLY for this group ... It will not matter how many recovery communities, beds or spaces we build. If we don’t help people transition into a new and different life, they will only return to the one they know. Structural change is needed.

The drug supply is a disaster right now. It's a easily lethat mix of opiates, benzos, tranquilizers, anaesthetics and Lidocaine any combo of the above. We saved 3 lives before 1 pm today. We are also encouraging people to go to NA meetings, detox, go to a doctor for non lethal prescription medicine.

DULF having a federal exemption to test drugs is not a viable legal argument to permit them to buy & sell drugs, nor is the argument that they had support from government officials & police. That said, Eby & the NDP opened Pandora’s box, using taxpayer dollars to fund DULF, who admitted on camera that they laundered tax money for their dark web drug trafficking. The NDP defunding DULF, the leaked Health Ministry presentation early this year & the NDP subsequently making "safe supply" witnesed dosing, and Eby admitting decriminalization failed, are proof that "safe supply" causes harm & that legalization would be catastrophic. I call on David Eby to launch a public inquiry into the NDP's pro-drug, anti-police policies & ideology so that everyone responsible for causing harm can be held accountable. thetyee.ca/News/2025/10/1…
