@RayOnHoops@RedNinetyFour Reed is flawed, no question. But he barely played games 1&2. Ime out there running Tate. The problem is there isn’t an offense. Not that they aren’t hitting. No sets. Just PnP from 10 ft beyond the 3p line. No movement
This is kind of worst case scenario. Got my hopes up only to get crushed. At least the sweep might’ve given an outside chance at Ime/Stone getting canned but we won’t even have that.
My assessment is that Amen is truly an outlier talent. Not in the way of Steph curry or Kobe, but in the way of pippen and draymond green. We need a number 1 and Sheppard is kinda our last hope in this. He has the talent to be a superstar. Will he realize it? That’s the question
We really made the playoffs for the first time in 5 years and abandoned everything we had built to try and contend immediately lmao. We deserved this honestly.
I can’t sit through another season of running offense through guys who cannot shoot. That’s one of the most disgusting halves of Rockets basketball I’ve ever watched. It’s even uglier in person when you can perfectly see all the reads they’re missing. Not much else to say.
Games 4/5 gave us some good moments, but I kind of wish we would have just been swept if that humiliation would have forced ownership into difficult decisions. I think everything is moot with Stone/Ime at the top.
The Rockets in the last two games they got eliminated from the playoffs from three:
2025: 6/18 (33.3%)
2026: 5/27 (17.9%)
Please for the love of god bring some actual three point shooters that shoot with some volume to this roster next season.
I am begging.
Reed Sheppard just don’t got it today. I’ll cut him some bail as this is his first season getting actual minutes, let alone first time in the playoffs. We are seeing the consequences of giving Reed an inconsistent role all season long.
Must be better next season.
Sengun has fallen flat way too many times. Amen Thompson is not a #1 or a #2 option on a contender. Reed Sheppard has a very long way to go. Jabari Smith and Tari Eason are role players. This is the reality.
Vince Carter and Melo were talking about how Reed played well “because his coaching staff believed in him all season through the lows.” lol. Absolutely not at all what happened. Also, Melo had a ton of praise for “Jabari Parker” for his strong play. 😭😭
Shout out to Bari man. I’ve been one of his biggest haters. Second year in a row that he’s absolutely risen to the occasion in the playoffs and shown what he’s made of.
Also, something I’ve loved watching are the Alpi-Bari interactions both on-court and on the sidelines. Who can forget how much these 19 year olds constantly bickered in Bari’s rookie season about blown defensive coverages etc. Now they’re just picking each other up.
I owe myself and the rest of the Reed FC this victory lap after he saved the season: I’m confident we would have been the third seed had Reed been starting/closing and playing 30+ mpg all year. The arguments against this operate oblivious to the human element of confidence in basketball and assume that performance game to game occurs in a vacuum. These guys are humans. When their roles are yanked around and they’re constantly looking over their shoulders, it’s natural that it will impact play.
I think Ime’s handling of Reed these last two years has been blatant malpractice. Borderline insanity. I have no idea what happens next year once FVV comes back.
Tari Eason this series:
13.8 PPG
6.3 RPG
1.5 APG
1.2 SPG
GREAT defense, particularly on LeBron.
in just 25.8 MPG
Tonight he dropped 18-5-1-1 on 68 TS
He has done MORE than enough for the Rockets to win the series. Keep it up Tari.
That's a very gutsy win by a very young team. Second straight year they have won an elimination game on the road. That group deserves a ton of credit for bouncing back after Friday's catastrophe
