@pureMetatron If you truly believe this was staged your IQ is room temperature. See how easy that is? There is zero proof that it was staged btw.

These are good photos. I like the second one; I hadn't seen that place before. It looks like France's answer to Venice. The algorithm is terrible. It seems to be designed to maximise exposure for whatever is likely to get the most reactions without accounting for anything else. The problem is that there are no comparable free speech apps, but free speech doesn't mean much if you don't get to choose who you speak or listen to and end up bombarded with random nonsense you're not interested in, instead.

My algorithm has been pretty bad lately so I’ve been avoiding this app like the plague, but it occurred to me many of you probably have a pretty negative timeline, too. So here is a feed cleanse for you :)

@HarrisonGarlic1 I believe the command can be understood as an instruction not to take revenge when it serves no defensive purposes, not as a command not to defend yourself or others or a justification for cowardice.

Jesus says if someone hits you to turn the other cheek. Is this not weakness? Well, think of it this way: ➡️➡️If someone hits you, and you are too afraid to defend yourself, have you followed Jesus’ command? No. Cowardice cannot be permitted to masquerade as piety.

@UrbanCourtyard Do you have any suggestions for which climates, cultures, and existing cityscapes are best matched by each design?

This is true, but even worse, I don't think there is a conscious driver behind it. Imagine people not as agents, but as particles in a system, through which propagate waves. Every molecule of water in a water wave will play its part in the propagation of the whole, but none makes a decision to do so. Movements such as brutalism often start with someone making a simple decision; they genuinely believe that a new form of futuristic architecture without statues and arches will look good. Their early examples might indeed look good. But other people take their philosophy without understanding it and design increasingly hideous buildings to a bastardised variant of the same design philosophy; this mutilation of aesthetics then propagates like a wave, with every architect nothing more than a particle within it, pushed about by the pressures around them and placing their own pressure on others without even knowing it, until the wave propagates to the utmost heights of monstrousness.

@Corvography @JoshFerme @TessaOutlook @Landeur To be honest, sweetheart, I've not been reading your replies. Whatever ill-informed guff you're gibbering about isn't worth my time with a 34 follower account (after a year and a half) making demands on engagement.

The Electoral Commission have confirmed to me personally that the ‘e-mail’ which implied that 59% of Restore Britain’s membership were from overseas, is fake. Mainstream news reporters like @ThatAlexWoman should apologise for repeating the lie on national television.

You're attempting to move the goalposts and engaging with a straw man. You claimed they would needed to prove their numbers. You were wrong. You are now asserting that they and I don't want their numbers checked. You are lying. Your lie is in the name of drawing your own attention away from the fact that you were wrong. If you accept that this is about whether the journalist could convince people they were honestly mistaken, why did you previously claim that Restore would need to provide evidence to counter the original numbers?

@Corvography @JoshFerme @TessaOutlook @Landeur Firstly, why wouldn't they have their numbers independently verified? Secondly, why are you so defensive about that? We know the answer to both of those. Finally, a journalist just needs to demonstrate they believed source to be true. If the info can be thought to be damaging

No, they wouldn't. That is not how UK law works. The fact that fake sources were used in a televised statement is cause for legal action without any requirement for evidence of contrary positions. It's also interesting to note that your coping mechanism, when the argument you wished was true is shown to be based upon fake documents, is to simply claim that something even bigger must be the case instead, without even bothering to find fake evidence this time.

@JoshFerme @TessaOutlook @Landeur The problem for Restore would then be that they'd have to get their numbers independently verified to prove the information was materially wrong. They won't because it's probably more than 59%

@allie__voss Strawberries are one of the top tier fruits. Remember that by deleting them, you also delete jam, strawberry ice cream, and everything else derived from them. Meanwhile, watermelon has no flavour, an unpleasant texture, and generally no reason to exist.

@AltCulture Ad hominem by association is one of the most pathetic alternatives to logical argument. When people not only curate their circle to avoid such attacks, but even try to curate their circle members' circles, they are conceding to the illogic that they should be confronting.

There will always be some people who (sometimes with valid reasons) have actual grudges against other social classes. However, a substantial fraction of the overt class warfare we see playing out in these sorts of spats ultimately stems from the aggressive party wishing they had come from (or appeared to have come from) a different class; either they resent that they are not an aristocrat or that they are not a tough street urchin, so they throw an embarrassing tantrum.

@ggreenwald @jakeshieldsajj The notion that it's good for aggressive parties to be vulnerable is valid, but taunting people with videos of destruction and death is not a dignified or honourable thing to do.

To be clear, since this is making the rounds from Israel supporters without context to suggest I'm a . . . you'll never guess. ... anti-Semite: That hard-core Zionist and DNC supporter named Akiva Cohen to whom I responded by email spent 2 straight days on Bluesky claiming I falsely sent Reality Winner to prison either deliberately or through negligence (ironically, they were talking about Reality Winner because she began claiming this week that Israel did 9/11 and that everything is the fault of the Jews). His accusations about me viralized on that liberal refuge site to the point that several people emailed me to alert me. For obvious reasons, falsely accusing someone of deliberately or negligently having a source arrested by the FBI is about the worst accusation you can make about a journalist. When I emailed him to explain that he was lying and that I had no involvement in the Reality Winner story at all -- and showed him news accounts confirming that -- he basically said: eh, whatever, I guess I misremembered a detail from a story that's a decade old. who cares. On the substance: I actually do think it's important that Israel understand that it can't go around starting wars and committing genocide and vaporizing innocent people without suffering consequences. Few things are more dangerous than Israel having a fully functional Iron Dome paid for by Americans that allows it to launch wars of aggression with full impunity and zero concerns about retaliation. For that reason, I think it's good for the world that Israel is feeling retaliatory strikes for the wars they started. This pig's two-day personal slander of me -- followed by his indifference in learning that his statements were lies -- probably made me a bit more acerbic and unrestrained than I normally would be, but I stand by it all. Here's a little NYT profile of this scumbag and his chear profiteering as a lawyer: nytimes.com/2024/05/26/nyr…
