A new documentary on Molly Russell’s death exposes, yet again, how deadly design failures in social media platforms can be. The film shows how harmful content, amplified by profit‑driven algorithms, contributed to Molly’s tragic death and why urgent, systemic redesign of social media is needed to protect children and young people. #MollyVsTheMachines is on @Channel4 now. I saw it last week at Tyneside Cinema. It also showed a panel discussion led by @carolecadwalla. The docu-film is harrowing, sad, but hopeful…I think we need to get behind Ian Russell to propagate change. Molly’s friends are amazing too!
