@supertanskiii Why would anyone do that? I really don't understand. He can't be that short of money so why would he do that for £80 a time? And he wants.to be PM?

Peter Lynch Inquest: Grandfather Jailed by Starmer for Holding a Placard Dies in Prison Doncaster. A pre-inquest review has opened into the death of Peter Lynch, a 61-year-old grandfather imprisoned for peacefully protesting. Peter was handed a two-year-eight-month sentence for “violent disorder” after holding a placard outside a Rotherham asylum hotel in August 2024, highlighting government corruption, grooming scandals, and immigration failures. Despite poor health, diabetes, angina, and a recent heart attack he was locked up under Keir Starmer’s government. He was found hanged in HMP Moorland on 19 October 2024, just months into his term, hours after receiving what he believed was an unfair prison punishment notice. Critics call Peter a political prisoner crushed by two-tier policing. His family demands answers on mental health failures and the brutal sentencing of working class voices. Shame on a government that jails grandfathers for placards while ignoring the real crises they protested. The full inquest will expose more in July. @TRobinsonNewEra

@SeddSezz I don't think any of that happened under the current government did it? You need to take it up with whoever was Home Secretary and PM at the time.

The Home Office granted entry to Enayet Ullah Abbasi, a Bangladeshi cleric and Islamist extremist who gave speeches across England. The Home Office granted entry to Abdur Razzak Bin Yousuf, a Bangladeshi preacher who also arrived in the UK for a speaking tour across multiple locations. The Home Office granted entry to Syed Muzaffar Shah Qadri, a Pakistani cleric who was banned from preaching in his home country due to the incendiary nature of his sermons. He also entered the UK to deliver a speaking tour at several mosques, including in Leicester and Woking, These are just three Islamists speakers who’ve been allowed into Britain to deliver extreme sermons around the country. And yet our Home Office instead bans Kanye West, Eva Vlaardingerbroek, Valentina Gomez, Joey Mannarino, Filip Dewinter, Dominik Tarczyński and others for “not being conducive to the public good.” One rule for Islamists, another for everyone else. Our Home Office is in dire need of a RADICAL revamp.

My husband, a Mancunian, is having a right laugh as reporters who rarely leave Westminster slowly realise Makerfield is in the borough of Wigan not Greater Manchester.

@AWills1995 The area may be split between Wigan, St Helens and Warrington now, but the towns and villages haven't moved. It's still all the same area, just as it was in the 70s.

@AWills1995 He was born in Aintree, Lancashire. Before Merseyside existed. Culcheth was also in Lancashire, as was Wigan and Ashton-in-Makerfield. He went to school in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside (also formerly Lancashire).

So Josh Simons of Makerfield is resigning his seat to make way for Andy Burnham to return to Parliament Burnham said "I grew up in this area and have lived here for 25 years. I care deeply about it and its people. I know they have been let down by national politics." This is FALSE Burnham was born in Aintree in county Merseyside. He grew up in a village called Culcheth in Cheshire and he was educated at St. Lewis Catholic school there, but also educated at former St. Aelred's Roman Catholic high school in my constituency St. Helens North, just 13 minutes walk from my house He was MP for Leigh and lived in Golborne (part of Leigh) throughout his Parliamentarian career The man is not telling the undecided and Labour voters the truth

He will definitely be locked up. Not sure about the other one as he was told to sit on a bench by officers which he did with his hands on his head, that’s my conclusion

@MaggiesTwitt @DuxVul @atticusfinch104 There was nothing posh about Culcheth in the 70s and 80s. It had its council estates, several disused military bases, and small factories etc. It was in Lancashire until 1974, not your typical 'leafy Cheshire village' at all. Some people still call it 'Lower Leigh' as a joke.

The Guardian has released a statement after Nigel Farage posted a photo of one of their photographers' press passes, implying that a photojournalist threatened his safety: "The Guardian is concerned by the recent publication on Nigel Farage’s social media pages of the professional credentials of a photographer working on behalf of the Guardian while he was working lawfully in a public space. Holding public figures to account is the role of a free press. "As part of the Guardian’s journalism covering Nigel Farage’s purchase of a £1.4m property in cash shortly after receiving a £5m personal gift, a photographer took pictures from a public path and showed his press card when asked to identify himself." theguardian.com/gnm-press-offi…

@RobbieTwts @JonTonge I don't see why. Boris Johnson not only stood as MP while he was Mayor of London but continued as Mayor for a year while he was a sitting MP. Dan Norris stood for Parliament while he was Mayor of the West of England and did both jobs for 10 months.

To clarify re Burnham (re 5 Live interview earlier): He remains Mayor of Gtr Man until/if he is elected MP for Makerfield. At that point he would legally forfeit his mayoral position and a GM Mayoral by-election process begins. If he loses in Makerfield he could continue as mayor
