How does this guy practice law, to say nothing of arguing before the Court? Greeks, Italians, and Spaniards were always legally considered white in America. Prior to the Civil War citizenship was restricted to free white men and after the war it was restricted to white and black men. If Greeks, Italians, and Spaniards weren’t considered white they wouldn’t have been able to immigrate here an obtain citizenship.
