@TheJohnCMaxwell My husband has drilled this into our children from a young age…be interested in others, ask questions, give others the opportunity to speak…it’s one of the fastest ways to create an ally, build a friendship, and garner influence.

@TKopelman There’s always a reason to not do something. It only takes one step to move forward. I was 100% not prepared to step into the role I have…leapt into it anyway. Haven’t regretted it once.

Almost every successful person I know shares one key trait: They’re willing to step into a role or run a business before they feel ready. They trust themselves to figure it out along the way

@CoachDanGo i don't think you have to be reaching a level of disgust before you can change things in your life, meaningful change and hard decisions can be made before that

No one wants to hear this but if you want to change any part of your life you must be disgusted. You can't be okay with things or mildly disappointed. You must get to a point where you can't live the same way anymore. You need to have absolute disgust to change your situation.

I get so mired in all of the content churning in my feed. But the reality is if I chased every cutting-edge leadership tip, health hack, and life-saving protocol on here, I’d never get anything done. 4AM wake-ups…nah, 9hr sleep recovery. Cold plunges mandatory. Never mind, heat only. Delegate everything! Actually, own it all. Contradictory noise everywhere. Curate ruthlessly. Test in reality. Lead from the deck, not the feed.

@EchelonFront Disagree. This reduces leadership solely to win/lose…ignoring context, external factors, and the reality that even elite leaders lose sometimes.

The only meaningful measure for a leader is whether the team succeeds or fails. Effective leaders lead successful teams that accomplish their mission and win. Ineffective leaders do not.

I'm curious what % of people love their job and what % hate their job. Let's find out. Please take this poll. The votes are anonymous, so you can be honest. Extra credit: If you love your job, leave a comment and share why. What is your job, and why do you love it?

That reality is why maritime training for firefighters matters...and why experienced instructors matter even more. I couldn't be prouder of the Fire Boat Operator instructors who bring real-world fireboat and marine response experience to this work.

I grew up in New York. My uncle was FDNY. And for a long time, I thought I understood what the fire service was...and where it operated.
