@MurrayOrchard @CousinsRon Much commoner species than is often realised & able to exploit Elm which remains almost everywhere but never becomes full grown trees.

Just had a White-letter Hairstreak land on my patio table in a rather tree less housing estate in Great Dunmow. Amazing!

Amwell NR - popped into Amwell this afternoon and had a Lesser Emperor from the boardwalk at Hollycross. It showed well over the central pool a number of times before the sun went in.

Amwell NR - Dragonfly Pool, 1 Broad-bodied Chaser, 3 Four-spotted Chaser and 2 Norfolk Hawker.

Amwell NR - Bittern just left the Reedbed and flew high south.

@AmwellBirding A pair of Barn Owls can be seen regularly at Amwell at dawn and dusk throughout the year. At the moment Hollycross and the field to the North is more reliable than the viewpoint but that can change at any time.

Can anyone comment on the Amwell Barn Owls at all please? Thank you.

Amwell NR - 1st Winter Med and Great Black Back in the roost again tonight. Also Smew, Stonechat and Woodcock.

Amwell NR - 1st Winter Med Gull in the roost tonight plus Barn Owl, Woodcock, Stonechat and Smew.

Popped into Newquay on the way back from the Booted Eagle for this obliging LT Duck.

After the Booted Eagle we moved on to Sennen Cove where we saw the Bonapartes and large numbers of Chough using a bird table up near the lifeboat station.
