Dabo Swinney and Clemson had a bad year for the first time since 2010 and weren’t in the mix at all, and the ACC was still extremely competitive. And the narrative is somehow that they are an “afterthought of a conference.”

Of all the ways you might assess the performance of a defensive coordinator, just seeing where they ranked when sorting FBS teams by Total Yards Allowed is certainly one of them
