@wendigo143 Wrapping things up over the next few days. Have a few things I've been working on that I want to churn out before the account kicks the bucket

this was my takeaway from the initial front office press conference fwiw. might help explain the (otherwise confusing) decision to let tyron walk

Sure sounds like the Cowboys hope Tyler Smith is the eventual heir to Tyron Smith on the left side, and can slide over from guard to tackle when Tyron isn't available.
English

@clinton8824 It's very different to do it in-season for a couple of weeks than it is to do it with months of preparation. The technique is different, among other things. This is the right way to go about a change
English

@CowboysStats Because you drafted him to be the left tackle, so why not put him there to get him experience and then move him back it’s stupid to keep him at left yard. If the next plan is to move him to left tackle the next season this is why they should’ve fired Tyron two years ago.
English

@clinton8824 For the same reasons you describe. Why move him unnecessarily when tyron is only out for a few weeks? Why mess with continuity at multiple spots in-season? This way, there will be a full offseason to prepare. And there won't be a reason to move him ever again
English

@CowboysStats My issue is I just don’t wanna move him like I said pick a spot and keep him there and if you put him back at left tackle, my question is why didn’t he back up Tyron when Tyron was hurt
English

@clinton8824 And his contributions would be more valuable to the team at LT than LG. Lots of upside to this move
English

@clinton8824 I'm not so sure he won't be just as good at left tackle. O-linemen tend to get better for each of their first three seasons. With an offseason to prepare, he'll likely be a better LT this year than he was in 2022
English

@clinton8824 He did in 2022, and played well as only a rookie. He didn't in 2023, perhaps because they had more reason to think Tyron would return and didn't want to mess with continuity. Now LT would be his permanent place on the line. No more moving around after this
English

@CowboysStats But now I don’t think they’re gonna move him because he’s a better guard than a tackle and if they were going to do that, why didn’t he play tackle when Tyrone was hurt?
English

@LifeIsGr8M8 more like the waning days of his rule lol

Noticed a discussion the other day about how YPC averages for runs out of shotgun vs uc were misleading. I thought, "true, but we should really be treating run gains as a survival model anyway."
And then today I stumbled on this...from 1954!
