With hot weather across the country this week, make sure you keep hydrated. Dehydration means your body loses more fluids than you take in, children and older adults are more at risk. If it's not treated, it can become a serious problem. More info ➡️ nhs.uk/conditions/deh…

If your child is sitting exams this month, share this advice with them. It's from other young people who have been there. 1/ Stay realistic We all have those days where revision feels impossible and that’s totally okay – listen to your body/ mind and look after yourself. Doing something small is better than doing nothing. All the little bits add up in the end. 2/ Don’t feel guilty for resting As hard as it can feel to do, letting go and relaxing is an important part of exam season. After all, having a clear and rejuvenated mind is important. 3/ Start with what you enjoy If you lack motivation, start with the subjects you enjoy the most. It will help you find your rhythm and set you off to a good start 4/ Find a space that works for you If you can, keep your bedroom and revision space separate. Then when you go to your room to relax and sleep, you won’t associate it with your work. 5/ Get enough sleep It’s really important to get enough sleep and stay in a regular pattern. It can be tempting to stay up past midnight to finish off that last section, but if you’re tired all day, your mental health might suffer and you’ll find it hard to concentrate properly. 6/ Your grades don’t define you You are unique and special for so many reasons other than the results you collect in the summer. Work hard, but only as hard as your mental health will let you comfortably.
