@SpectatorOz Nature and biodiversity should be appreciated for both its important role in our health and wellbeing and its intrinsic value. This 'develop every square metre' urge should be rejected for what it is - dumb and self-defeating.

WHAT IF WE SPREAD OUT? 🤔 Australia is one of the largest countries on earth, yet most of its population and economic activity are concentrated in a narrow band along the south-eastern coast. A continent-sized nation, living in a corner of itself. This is often treated as a simple fact of geography. It is usually explained in terms of climate, distance, or historical settlement patterns. The north is hot, remote, and sparsely populated; the south-east is temperate, established, and economically dense. From this perspective, the distribution of population appears inevitable. But inevitability is not the same as optimality. Article | spectator.com.au/2026/04/a-cont…

@peter_tulip "Boosting demand is a counter-productive approach to housing affordability." Yes, 5% deposits, foreign investment, investor tax concessions, high immigration, lax bank lending practices, to name a few. It's largely a demand-driven crisis.

The 5% deposit guarantee has increased prices. Both sides need to learn from this mistake. Boosting demand is a counter-productive approach to housing affordability. For the Coalition, this means super-for-housing should wait until supply is increased. abc.net.au/news/2026-04-2…

The future of housing in Australia is taking inspiration from the past. Multiple generations living under the same roof might seem like an old-fashioned idea, but as tonight's instalment of our Home Truth series shows, it's gaining renewed popularity.

The @GrattanInst verdict on the fuel excise cut: Not as terrible as some economic commentators suggest. But shouldn’t become embedded in our policy response to the oil shock. And the long-term solution is to move to an electrified economy. skynews.com.au/insights-and-a… #auspol

@independentaus @alanaustin001 Labor’s twin hyper-demand policy agenda of high spending and high immigration in a supply-constrained economy is criminal. Causing enormous suffering, particularly for mortgage holders who are bearing the brunt of the inflation monster. Unfair and criminal.

She’s 22. She lives in Werribee or Campbelltown or Logan. Her parents can’t help her. No inheritance coming. Two hours to the city on a good day. Her parents went to One Nation. She’s going somewhere else. And it’s going to reshape Australian politics more than Pauline Hanson ever did. My detailed analysis on why Australia has now a Left and Right wing populist movement. 👎 Sydney Swans are not live on FTA TV today because of the new AFL broadcast rights deal. Under this agreement, all Saturday matches for the first 10-11 weeks of the 2026 season are exclusive to Fox Footy and Kayo, meaning Channel 7 only broadcasts them on a delayed basis in NSW

@MrRexPatrick Thanks, but your details are confusing and unsourced. You talk about "fuel stocks", then just "diesel". What is your source for the 300 days of fuel stock in 2002 and what fuel is this? Are you comparing apples with apples (i.e. is that useable fuel stocks *in tanks* in AUS)?

The word-dancing and spin in the parliament by the major parties is diminishing trust in our leaders and undermining public confidence in our fuel supply chains. Fuel politics is just not helping. So let's get to 👇the truth of the situation👇. #auspol michaelwest.com.au/dwindling-rese…
