Was the USA wrong with their winning Ryder Cup celebration in 1999? Europe Vice Captain Sam Torrance famously said: “"It was the most disgraceful and disgusting day in the history of professional golf.” He also told Tom Lehman: “Your behavior was not that of a Man of God”. IMO, that’s loser talk. They were stoked and an insane putt was hit to win after a crazy comeback. Giant baby talk by the Euros imo. Sore losers and they would never accept an apology. Jose Maria was much more gracious, even though he had to sit and watch on that green. This fateful day made the rivalry way worse and even today it’s remembered.
