Are you passionate about something? Do you know something inside out where others barely give it a glance? Everyone's a geek about something. And that's wonderful.

Demise of the Pasterze (AT) icefall over the last 8 years! 🔥 This south-facing icefall was the last to feed the valley tongue, and it will be cut off anytime soon, likely next summer, leaving a dead ice body below 🧊📈 Source @GeoSphere_AT

The earliest record for all snow in Scotland disappearing is 23rd August, which happened in 2003. If significant falls of fresh snow do not occur in the next four weeks or so then that early date will be trounced this summer. I have never seen the hills so denuded of snow in mid March. 📷 SAIS Lochaber - lochaberblog.sais.gov.uk/2025/03/carn-b…

The earliest pie chart is credited to William Playfair's “Statistical Breviary” (1801). Shown are the proportions of the Turkish Empire located in Asia, Europe and Africa. Such an obvious way of displaying data but it’s only 220 years old! Wikipedia: buff.ly/jNXtJlu

their model was based on unpublished crystallographic data by British biochemist Rosalind Franklin, who was credited only a decade later. Franklin worked also on modern classification of coal types and carbon-minerals
