@subfossilguy Just seen your post from today showing the rock debris and think I need to explain that back in 1987 this was a 100% ice route. It's unbelievable how almost all of the ice on the face has gone.

A rock avalanche of impressive magnitude took place yesterday (July 19) on the north face of Tour Ronde (3,793 m asl) ! 🔥 A summit where this kind of events became recurrent in recent years with warming permafrost... 📽️ Maxim Foygel

Today's aerial view of the Tour Ronde rock avalanche deposit that occurred last sunday! 😲 An allegory of a north face of a 3,800 m peak in the 21st century... not a single ounce of ice left! 🔥🧊 📷 Gilles Léger 🙏

Tears of glacier melt water... At the topmost measurement site of Gries Glacier today. This situation is incredibly wrong. We should be seeing lots of white snow there. All year round. Extremely worrying to experience this already in July at 3000 meters above sea level...

I've never seen anything like it. Salta, Argentina, has just recorded its hottest night on record during the climatologically coldest time of the year. The minimum overnight temperature did not fall below 26°C (78.8°F), pulverizing the previous monthly record by 7°C.

Barre des Ecrins (4,102 m asl) from top of Pic du Glacier Blanc (3,527 m asl) yesterday! 😍 Aside the feeling of facing a gorgeous glacial landscape, snow conditions are apocalyptic for July, with a snowline ~3,100 m! 🧊🔥 Likely on track to set a new ice ablation record! 📈

Glacier du Casset (NE Face Les Agneaux, 3,664 m asl) Juillet 2007 | Juillet 2026 At this pace in the Alps, all mountain glaciers (≠ valley glaciers) located entirely below 3,500 m will be gone within next two decades at most! 🧊🔥

@sebastian_paul I think you're having some trouble understanding this. Yes, they occurred... for natural reasons. Which means we shouldn't be seeing such retreats today, if only natural forcings were at work.

@subfossilguy And didn't your own research showed that such mind-blowing withdrawal has happened several times in history?

After three heatwaves since May, we are living in France the worst drought in history! 🔥💧 Soil moisture has reached level unprecedented this early in the summer — exceeding the levels recorded in 1976, 2022, and 2025 on the same date! 📈 Via @MystereMeteo

@Olkimosay Et donc tu sais manifestement ce qui fait varier les glaciers et pourquoi ce qu'il se passe à l'heure actuelle n'est pas une conséquence d'un climat naturel...😅

@sebastian_paul The anthropogenic effect on curent warming is virtually 100%. It's not an opinion, but an established scientific fact. Everything else is just bullshit meant to distract from action that would preserve a habitable Earth. Human can not adpat to +3-4°C wr to preindus.

@subfossilguy "We've done"? You and your studies have shown that these glaciers reductions are in no way unprecedented, and have happened before throughout history. It's admirable how you love mountains and glaciers, I do too. But go easy on the unfounded doom and gloom.
