Also, on the flip side, one of the biggest selling point for any Highway dhabas is now Clean Washrooms.

When you sell your regular active mutual fund and move to an index fund, you sometime stop because you think about the capital gains tax that you would need to pay.
You have to evaluate when the shift is worth it.
For example, if your current fund is charging 2.3% and you are shifting to 0.3%, you are saving 2% every year on total value
Capital gains tax is 12.5% on capital gains. If the total value is 100 and capital gain inside it is 40, then capital gain tax is 5.
You will recover it in ~3 years.
On the other hand if your current fund is charging 0.8%, then it will take 10+ years to recover it.
Do this calculation. If you can recover it ~5 years or less, make the switch. If it is 10+ years, don't.

A friend who is a long time resident in UAE was complaining that his INR deposits of the last 2 years are showing capital loss for him as INR has depreciated 17%. This must be the case for so many NRIs who keep money here and this is very worrying for the flow of forex in. @nsitharaman a Tax break for all money coming in is a need of the hour !

We are in the market for a car - seeing across ranges. Obviously:
a) Electric - many charging issues,and if commercial charging only, then doesn't make economic sense (outside of ram bharose resale)
b) Expensive car - E20 to E50 or whatever is coming. Should money be burnt? (1/n)

Saw the two seasons of Night Manager in the last couple of days. A hotel night manager who becomes a British intelligence officer with a mission to hunt down a nefarious arms supplier. Gripping watch. Tom Hiddleston (Loki of Avengers) & Hugh Laurie (House) are super.

No fluff, no fancy images. Only text.
Raw, hard and to the point.
As of now I have only received good feedback for that.
P.s: I prefer this way because it helps me think about the business better.

AI has increased productivity. I had to spin up a monthly report for my investors from this month. 1 hr on Claude drawing up framework 1 hr on Claude creating a template 30 mins to feed required data, dictate specific notes, generate report and proof read the final. It has genuinely freed up time. I used to do quarterly and annual reports for my NGO pre-2020. It used to take days of work manually drafting all text and working on page design etc. We once did a baseline survey and generated a big report. Took some 20 days of work with an entire team. I can do that single handedly in 6 hrs flat now with that raw data.

I don’t have a thing against PPFAS. I just think that the praise they got for being in cash last year was unworthy; that is showing.
In this biz, you get addicted to such praise. You won’t have the courage to do what has to be done once you are used to praise for not losing money
