Conflicted about removing my cultural first name during legal name change Hi everyone, I’m a Nigerian Canadian. I was born in Nigeria and moved to Canada when I was younger. I’ve always struggled with my Nigerian name. I often feel uncomfortable when people call me by it, and most of the time I introduce myself using my middle name instead. I’m currently filling out a legal name change form to make my English name my first name. Now I feel really conflicted about what to do with my original name. I’m not sure whether I should.
