Growing up in the early 80s, I watched movies about cannibal bikers wreaking havoc, mega-corps owning everything, underdog rebels fighting dystopian dictators, AI taking over the world, and mysterious plagues killing everyone. Today, those films turned out to be training videos!

To all you people pivoting to “you have to have read the books to appreciate the movie” to justify how bad “Spider-Man” and “Lanterns” look: FUCK OFF. That excuse has never been true of anything because… …REAL Hollywood always wanted to attract as many viewers as possible. They made standalone movies that hooked everyone, book-readers or not. You think the hundreds of millions who turned the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy into one of the biggest film franchises ever read Tolkien’s books first? No. They walked in cold, got blown away by epic visuals, characters, and story, and left happy and satisfied. Same with Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Dune—massive hits because the films stood on their own legs. If your adaptation needs the audience to do homework to “work,” it’s not a good adaptation. It’s a lazy piece of shit pretending to be “faithful.” So stop gatekeeping. Stop excusing weak movies. Real cinema doesn’t require a syllabus. It just requires talent.

I had forgotten how much I HATE Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Then I re-watched "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and the reason why hit me like a truck: he's a dumb MODERN LIBERAL. "I’m gonna fix the bad guys." "Ooh, I don’t want the bad guys to get killed." "I don’t care how many people they hurt or kill along the way." "This is what I want, and humanity just has to deal with it." This time when I watched, after 6 years of democrat madness, I literally found myself rooting for "the villains." Because Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Electro are at least competent and actually get shit done—unlike that bumbling asshole Holland. He literally frees his deadliest nemeses from containment… ….so they can stay alive, go back to their worlds…and kill more people. And the funniest part is that Aunt May cheers him on for FREEING CRIMINALS - and we all know how THAT turned out for her😂 Even Green Goblin calls him out for being too weak to do what needs doing. And now he’s about to ruin “Brand New Day” with his constant failure and weakness. I thank God this will be his last outing in the role. I’d rather have a 60-year-old Tobey Maguire in the suit than this bozo.

Are we somehow “better than” going after people who actually did devastatingly bad things to our country? Is that who we are now? The subtitle of the next Spider-Man movie, “Brand New Day,” is code for “we’re no longer making real superhero movies the way you like.” Superman (James Gunn's version): a conflicted, alienated immigrant struggling with identity politics. Peacemaker: a crude, broken man-child whose "heroism" is mostly drugs, orgies, and daddy issues. Hollywood is systematically removing both the SUPER and the HERO from the superhero genre. Wonder Man: Simon Williams, once the WHITE son of a rich industrialist, now a Haitian-American actor dealing with family trauma and cultural identity crises. Black Captain America: super-empowered to save the country but still crying about racial inequality. Ironheart: Riri Williams is a genius inventor but still has to steal and is burdened by ILLUSIONS of systemic racism and personal grief. Daredevil: now a depressed, guilt-ridden lawyer whose arc drowns in moral ambiguity, depression, while being overshadowed by diverse sidekicks lecturing him on privilege and anger. Lanterns — Hal Jordan and John Stewart reduced to substitute teachers and grunt cops investigating a murder in the American heartland, while a female detective disrespects them and the black Lantern lectures the white one on doing the job better. And now comes FAILED Spider-man: bungling, constantly falling and crashing into things, getting hit by a van…the list goes on. These aren’t the heroes we want to see. They’re "humanized" (read: weakened) versions designed to make today's modern (read: lowbrow) audience feel better about themselves. The men are sad, angry, depressed, unfulfilled, incompetent, or outright toxic. The women are corrupt, masculine, infallible girlbosses who outfight, outthink, and out-lead every man in the room. They no longer live in their own specialized, larger-than-life worlds where they thrive as gods among mortals. They live in OUR angry, gritty, mundane world where they FAIL, struggle, and get knocked down to our level. No more soaring capes, no more unapologetic power, no more aspirational icons. Just unrelatable losers with OCCASIONAL super-powers who mirror our own mediocrity and resentment. Hollywood isn't dying. It's killing itself.

Why I'm not excited for "Dune Part 3": The trailer opens with Chani asking Paul Atreides: "If we have a girl, what will we name her?" MATRIARCHY. Paul replies: "She would need to be STRONG like her MOTHER." WOMAN AND MOMMY WORSHIPPING. A bunch of dark, barely visible closeups of random stuff: WE WANT TO DEPRESS YOU. FEMALE humming. Chanting in native language: INDIGENOUS PEOPLE WORSHIP. Scenes of war. Paul whining to his mommy: "The more I fight, the more our enemies fight back." Closeup of a FEMALE Bene Gesserit looking stunning and brave. Paul whining again: "I'm doing the best I can to protect my family." SOUNDS DEFEATED ALREADY. Louder chanting in native language: MORE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE WORSHIP. Paul asks mommy: "How did father do it?" SELF DOUBT AND WEAKNESS. Mommy replies: "Your father never started a war." Quick cut to a WOMAN IN WHITE standing triumphant on top of a structure. Fremen WOMAN striding confidently: SHE'S TOUGH, SHE DON'T NEED NO MAN! Paul: "I'm not afraid to die." ALREADY PREDICTING DEFEAT. "But I must not die... yet." FORESHADOWING OF DOOM. And it ends with a shot of Chani. No male speaking roles except Paul. Dark, grainy photography. AND I'M NOT THRILLED WITH CHALAMET OR ZENDAYA AT ALL. All this pretty much tells me everything I need to know to NOT PAY FOR IT. Look: Denis Villeneuve is a male feminist who's known for making films that feature STRONG FEMALE PROTAGONISTS and explore FEMINIST THEMES. According to GROK, his “Dune” movies "enhance female roles compared to Frank Herbert’s novel, giving Jessica and Chani more agency, potentially diminishing Paul’s traditional male heroism." AND FINALLY, he made "Blade Runner 2049" a man-hating, female-worshipping piece of crap, with every major character aside from Gosling, Ford, and Leto being cast as women. Add to that his FEMINIST WIFE is his frequent co-producer, and NO: I'm not looking forward to the next installment of "Dune" AT ALL. After more than 10 years of that female empowerment crap, I'm just not willing to trust that this will be any different.
