Johannes “Hans” Alders went on our recent #InvictusAdventures to the AFPST Championships and tackled his fear of skiing and now feels "safe" on the green slopes and hopes to one day take part in a novice skiing race. An incredible display of the #InvictusSpirit! 💛🖤 "For me it was a rollercoaster trip, that gave me a lot of memories. I had my ups and downs. Learning to ski later in life with certain anxiety is a challenge."

Our community team spent an incredible 3 days at the Village Expo in Mountain Square during @wssf! Under the sun we shared laughs and smiles, along with our Invictus Games themed trivia, Wheelchair Curling, and of course our bright yellow COWBELLS! Huge thanks to our friends at @gibbonswhistler for having us, and to the fantastic team at @Ziptrek. Le mois d’avril est reconnu à l’échelle internationale comme le Mois des enfants de militaires, et avec l’aide du Centre de ressources pour les familles des militaires de la Colombie-Britannique continentale, nous souhaitons vous présenter la famille Tetreault, qui s’était jointe à nous lors de nos célébrations du compte à rebours d’un an, le mois dernier. Vincent et son épouse Kristen forment une belle famille avec leurs quatre garçons (âgés de 5, 7, 10 et 12 ans). Vincent, qui compte plus de 24 ans au sein des Forces armées canadiennes, est reconnaissant envers ses garçons, pour la force qu’ils ont su lui insuffler. La famille a vécu sur plusieurs grandes bases où les ressources destinées aux militaires se trouvaient à portée de main. Toutefois, elle vit aujourd’hui dans une région où les militaires sont beaucoup plus dispersés, et elle est beaucoup plus engagée dans la communauté civile. La famille a su tirer profit des subventions offertes par le Centre de ressources pour les familles des militaires de la Colombie-Britannique continentale pour participer à des camps au niveau local. C’est grâce à ces expériences que les garçons ont pu appuyer leur père. « Parfois, il m’est difficile d’effectuer la transition à la vie civile, mais je réussis à le faire grâce à l’aide de mes garçons. Ce sont eux qui me guident. Ils apprennent à maintenir l’équilibre entre la vie militaire et la vie civile, ce qui est très important », explique Vincent.
