@bfgcracka @JustinPicheh . @bfgcracka: we appreciate the distinction, and there is unfortunately little data on crime rates of new refugees/asylum seekers, specifically. But in our upcoming issue we highlight a study showing lower crime rates for "undocumented" immigrants in the US. Stay tuned!

1/2 The first reason Barrhaven Residents Against Spung Shelter oppose a refugee shelter in their area of #OttCity is "increased crime". The facts, however, are not on their side.

I'd be first to agree we need permanent over temporary housing but the debate over "sprung structures" doesnt really seem to be abt that. This is a flyer handed out by ppl opposed to the structure in #ottcity, the first reason being more refugees lead to "increased crime." 1/5

Research shows inequality increases crime and fear of crime. Canada's highest ever income inequality will therefore bolster Conservative Poilievre's tough-on-crime approach, even though these approaches rarely work. 1/3 cbc.ca/news/politics/…

Hopefully Trump and Vance consider checking out our searchable website so they can see even more EVIDENCE on what actually reduces crime. crimhighlights.ca 3/3
