@InvincibleFan99 @Shunkiroth The reason they can argue it's not a monopoly is because once it's in a store's hands, they can set the price just as it is now with discs. The digital ownership issue is a completely separate thing.

@Shunkiroth So hopefully the focus is on fair policies in regards to digital pricing and purchases because that's the most realistic angle here.

@Shunkiroth It's a tough situation. Sony says game codes will be available at retailers still so it's difficult to say how well the monopoly claims will hold. You can't force Sony to produce game discs anymore than you can force Pepsi to continue making Crystal Clear Pepsi.

@notsurerightnah @GameGPU_com Xbox honestly probably cannot afford the retailer split and production costs if they have a chance at surviving. Retailers are already not carrying their physical product...there is no demand. My Walmart yesterday...

People really have gone off the deep end. Community Note claims Sony sets the prices of 3rd-party publisher games like Resident Evil Requiem, Crimson Desert and GTA 6 Just absolute insanity on this app

There is nothing disagree with. I don’t think you Xbox guys understand what this program is about so let me simplify it. MS wants to take the disc you own away from you and make it look like they are doing you a favor by giving you the license to a digital copy.

@CriticalFailGa2 @Puertorock77_ That could change for next gen though, since Playstation will have literally zero physical games to sell. If Microsoft wants an edge in gaming they'll keep physical so that the store shelves are Nintendo/Xbox with basically no Playstation.

@realpissedchris @Seramurai_ I personally haven't seen where she's said there isn't any backlash. Even taking your word for it, as a percentage of Playstation's roughly 150 million users I haven't seen anything to suggest it's more than 2-4% of that user base.

@realpissedchris @Seramurai_ If you re-read her post, they said it's "at the top of the store" not necessarily that it's physical media advocates buying (although some probably are), just that a digital only title is doing extremely well in the aftermath of the announcement.

@realpissedchris @Seramurai_ If we're honestly evaluating the situation, it doesn't matter if the Black Ops sales are going to physical fans, digital fans, bird watchers, fisherman...the only thing that matters to shareholders is..."Did it sell"? If the answer is yes, they're happy.

@Seramurai_ @CriticalFailGa2 Black Ops sitting at the top of the store doesn't mean anything. You're assuming those sales are from physical media advocates for some reason. Also, it's come out that the digital sales as opposed to physical have been heavily skewed to push PlayStation's narrative

@Seramurai_ @realpissedchris Also another thing to keep in mind...Sony is more than Playstation. Spider-Man week is coming up fast...may as well call it Sony Christmas. They make a fortune off the movie, Spider-Man game sales will increase, movie rentals and sales, toys...etc...

It really is, it’s a battle worth fighting, but they’re fighting it on the wrong fronts, and Sony likely expected this don’t care. They should be buying physical discs, and proving to Sony and PlayStation that they’re worth the investment. PS isn’t going to change their mind cause a few people online complained online. If a business doesn’t see the point, they’re not going too.

@Seramurai_ @realpissedchris Resident Evil remakes are my go to examples for what a remake should be. I know some people get annoyed at things that are cut, but they streamline the games masterfully and make them line up so much better.
