How to get #Iran out of #Croatia and pursue American $50b investment in Croatia (half of its #GDP) at the same time? @mmhmtvc123 @polidemitolog He’s an alright mayor, personally I have some gripes when it comes to his slow pace of removing asphalt from the old town and how slowly pedestrian zones have expanded but overall he’s done some good work in terms of financial transparency and stability, investments in culture

I like how they decided to keep some of the old retro trams.
I heard that Zagreb is expanding its tram network because they have a very good mayor.

The one thing I can never forgive Yugoslav communists, well, besides a one-party state and an absurd cult of personality which set back Serbian political culture by a century, is that they never built a subway system in Belgrade and Zagreb, while every Soviet puppet state did.

@mmhmtvc123 @polidemitolog The Metro is great at bringing people from the periphery to the core very quickly while the Tram connects different hubs, such as shopping, entertainment, culinary establishments, institutions etc. Does it mean we need an extensive metro? No but two lines would already make sense

@mmhmtvc123 @polidemitolog The tram network has been chronically neglected for 20 years and is only now really getting back up to snuff. But frankly after living in Prague, the idea of combining Trams and Metros is so clever. They aren’t made obsolete by each other instead they counter two different issues

@The_Davos_Man I think this is a century of divergence between the US and Europe. And I say this as someone who sheepishly believed back in the 2010’s we were reaching an inevitable world government in the future. But the US hasn’t operated on a foundation of good will with Europe for a while

I am a transatlanticist. I believe North America and Europe should be in alliance held together by common values. And that's genuinely at risk of being lost now. And may continue to be undermined after Trump if we end up with a far-left "tea party" undermining the democrats.

@savrusag @BIMBOSATTVA_ The standardization of the language was in fact a political choice. There’s a few sources that mention a disapproval of Vuk’s changes to the serbian standard language to make it more croatian. And vice versa there’s a pivot to shtokavization in non shtokavian Croatia
