@Gnosisinformant @duudestellar Right. That’s a category error. “Homeric Greek” usually refers to the Epic/Ionic dialect/register. Some later authors mimic Homeric Greek (e.g., Nonnus), but the LXX does not. It’s more accurate to classify it as Hellenistic Koiné with heavy Semitic influence.

I told him that the Septuagint was Koine Greek and not Homeric Ionian Greek.. so what does he respond with ? A friggin chat gpt response about why HOMER’s Iliad is HOMERIC Greek. This has to be satire. Hey @duudestellar , why diddnt you show us what ChatGPT said when you asked it if the SEPTUAGINT is Homeric Greek?

Homer uses χρίω to mean “rub/smear.” That doesn’t make it “Homeric Greek” per se. χριστός is a later deverbal adjective (Classical/Hellenistic). In the LXX it’s used metonymically, e.g. Isa 45:1, where Cyrus is divinely “appointed” (not “drugged”).
