@Cross_CourtPod @OdjHoops There are D1 players making 10x the G League $50k and most won’t make the G League. The taxpayers are subsidizing athletics. Of a $5 billion budget, how much goes to professor salaries? Of a $120 million athletics budget, how much goes to rev share? Few players earn actual NIL.

@MikeFrank152027 @OdjHoops Your market value is what someone is willing to pay for you. That's literally how markets work.
English

@OdjHoops What would you make in the G League right now? That’s your market value. Not a share of the revenue that the university brings in. Professors and researchers bring in billions, not millions, and they don’t get revenue share.

@GoodmanHoops Winning in college in the early 2000s has almost nothing to do with winning post portal which is why a lot of the old guard coaches walked away when they saw how the portal was going to work.
English

The guy won 2 national titles in college and still has a lot of ties to the college game.
Malone hasn’t coached in college in 25 years.
Yes, I would have waited and made sure Donovan wouldn’t have taken it.
bam takes@sam_bammerr
@GoodmanHoops You’re a billy Donovan puppet. Even @T_Oglesby22 and Randolph peeped it last night. I’ll forgive you because you clearly had too much peach Jim beam ;)

@Finishurbkfst23 When they added Pau, they added a guy who had been NBA rookie of the year, an All Star, and had won MVP of the 2006 World Championships.
It wasn't like he has Shaq carrying him again, but he had a legit co star immediately.
English

@Finishurbkfst23 Here's Sengun last year and Pau the year before he joined the Lakers.
Same quality player. Sengun is a star. Not a superstar, but he's a star player. Pau was the best player on the Grizzlies and had very good numbers. sports-reference.com/stathead/baske…

The reason Kobe haters hate this poll is because it blows a huge hole in their narrative.
Social media was in its infancy.
This is one of the most accurate snapshots of how fans felt at the time. The only reason they hate it is because Kobe's on top.

Paul Don't Lie@PaulHeadleyNBA
I could make a compelling argument that Kobe was never the best player in the league in any season never mind for a decade straight. And nobody at the time thought he was, at least outside LA.
English

@GoodmanHoops Provokes a fanbase by being obnoxious, then acts like it's that fanbase's fault. Classic internet troll move.
English

@Finishurbkfst23 I do actually.
Pau averaged 21 and 10 the year before he went to the Lakers. It'd be like a team adding Alperen Sengun, to put it in terms that younger fans might understand.
English

@Cross_CourtPod He made the allstar team once. When someone says "star" that refers to a superstar.
Jamaal Magloire made an allstar team too. Remember him?
English

@tooocoolcurt @Finishurbkfst23 I saw LeBron do a whole lot with some pretty crappy rosters.
English

@Cross_CourtPod @Finishurbkfst23 Nobody was “relevant” without a fucking team yall take credit away from every player
English

@Finishurbkfst23 An all star, in fact. Kids today aren't old enough to remember, I guess.
English

@A_ry4824 @Finishurbkfst23 Never had a winning record. Just winning more games than you lose. Seems like an extremely low bar.
English

@Cross_CourtPod @Finishurbkfst23 Jordan never made it out of the first round without Pippen, Lebron won a chip with Wade, Bosh, Love, Irving. What’s your point? Every superstar has help??
English

@DanLifshatz Dan Hurley literally disagrees with you but okay.
English

@TheHoopHerald Blow enough big leads and you'll get fired anywhere.
English

@CuffsTheLegend Oh THAT'S why Duke hired a guy with no coaching experience who chokes away big leads in big games, because they had so many other choices.
English

@BrotherhoodDuke No, see, Duke wasn't good enough to make it to the Final Four. That's why they play the games, to find these things out.
English

@ScottKacsmar Kareem somehow ended up being the most disrespected player of all time. He has a legit goat case.
English

@statefansnation State ended up with a guy that only deep cut fans even remember as a player much less know as a coach and suddenly they think that makes them relevant to these conversations.
English

Welp... Can't say I saw this name coming. But, I *can* say I saw the process evolving and ending up somewhere like this. Was pretty clear that they were making a mistake getting rid of their current coach with the hubris of believing they were going to get all these other coaches because they're 'Carolina.'
I really don't understand how people forgot about how this all went down when Guthridge retired and Roy didn't coming home. The phrase 'I said no to Dean' was not just a throwaway line. They ended up with Matt Doherty at a time when the college basketball landscape was still significantly in their favor - and they even still had their institutionalized academic fraud apparatus in place.
Roy Williams saved them when he left Kansas after Doherty. They couldn't have been more fortunate than to have the second-best coach in America be an alum and love them like he did. Their people seem to have learned very little from that experience, and it showed in this experience. (All things I said weeks ago as I was curious to see how this was going to play out.)

Sources: North Carolina intends to hire longtime NBA coach Michael Malone as the school’s next basketball coach. He’s an NBA Championship coach with the Denver Nuggets from the 2022-23 season and has won 510 games as an NBA head coach.
English

@beetlehound1 @statefansnation Oh man, stop everything, Brigmann Bailey doesn't know anything about basketball so clearly it was a bad hire!
Next time we can only interview guys Brigmann has heard of!
English

@statefansnation Unc fans think it was a great hire and the plan all along. Nobody gives a crap about the NBA, and I have never heard of the guy
English

@Salzy0991 Malone is 20 years younger than BB and doesn't have whatever the heck is going on with BB's dramatic love life...
And in basketball you need to get a handful of player moves right, not 40.
English

@ReedCarringer That's literally how minor league baseball has functioned for a hundred years.
