Excellent to see @NatInfraCom making a clear case for @Crossrail2 & continued investment in London’s transport. As its report stressed today, transport investment across the UK is critical, but London’s global standing & population growth mean it must be part of this.

London desperately needs investment in @Crossrail2 to reduce overcrowding at many of London’s busiest rail stations & provide significant congestion relief to the London & strategic road networks. As this report warns, urgent progress is needed even to meet a late 2030s deadline.

@joe_parsons @williambarter1 @londonistlatest not yet I'm afraid. Strategic Outline Business Case we submitted to Dept for Transport last autumn made series of recommendations on route. We now await SoS's decision. But revised proposals will be subject to full public consultation

@___lyuchenko @williambarter1 @londonistlatest not an option, as the first HS2 services to Birmingham are schedule to start in 2028 and there is no way that Crossrail 2 construction could be completed anywhere near that early

@Crossrail2 @WilliamBarter1 @londonistlatest Would it make sense for Crossrail 2 to happen simultaneously to HS2 - so to not draw out the construction in and around Euston into the 2040s?
